Bought this not expecting much, but it's a complete bargain. One of the best books i've ever read on VM and less than a quid!! Look forward to reading more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Good Read 10 Dec 2013
By Boswell
This is a really enjoyable read and a great deal of fun. The author is quite opinionated about some of Van's output and freely admits to not owning all of his albums, but this doesn't take anything away from his guide. I don't agree with a lot of his opinions, but that's only to be expected. That didn't stop me thoroughly enjoying every bit of it. As he states Van is different things to different people.
Really fanatical Morrison fans will perhaps find fault with some of his assertions but that comes with the territory. At 77p this is a steal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book 1 July 2014
Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this book. The great thing is that most of the writer's opinions about Van's best albums very nearly coincide with my own. The top four albums are just right. No Guru... is overrated and A Period Of Transition is underrated but I agreed with 90% of what was written. The start of a great pub conversation I felt.... Not sure about Higher than the world and personally I love TB Sheets but I think I would include 40 of the top 50 songs in my own list. I also feel that the live versions of "Its A Mans World" and "Summertime In England" deserve a mention but great to see She Gives Me Religion right up there. Thanks Mark.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well done! 18 Mar 2014

Exactly what I hoped for. May not agree with all the choices but this is well worth buying. Nice to see an album other than Astral weeks at No.1 (Sinead O' Connors all time favourite album also). Also loved the top 5 favourite albums for the year of release. Puts the music Van was making in the context of that time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful 27 Feb 2014
The author provides insight and humour into his well written reviews and even though I don't agree with a number of the album placing it was still a really entertaining read. Great value - highlight recommend.
