Most people who buy this blu-ray will do so as an upgrade to the dvd especially as it has been on the television recently and if you like the movie it's a worthwhile upgrade. Picture quality is excellent and is presented full screen and the DTS-HD Master audio soundtrack fills your room with sound and music. Extras are very much the same as the dvd release with the addition of a 20 minute feature on the masked ball scene which is well worth watching. Most of the story is set in the dark and this benefits from the blu-ray transfer as everything is so much clearer.

The film's subject and plot whilst absurd, is great fun, and this film really delivers on Blu-Ray. The images and sound are first class, although being a relatively recent film (2004) they ought to be, but I think what makes it such a good watch is that the film's sound, color palette and imaginative imagery is ideally suited to deliver a fantastic Blu-Ray experience.

Great looking film with lots of technical prowess but characters are empty and flat. After two hours all the action scenes are merely copies of those that have gone before. How many times do you want to see the same rope swinging over a bottomless chasm scene? Endlessly the director must think as he stuffs it in every five minutes. The result is a pretty looking but shallow film that actually begins to bore at the 2 hours plus running time. Most of the acting is also pretty poor with dreadful dialogue. A GREAT let down.
