Review

"A beautifully rendered art-cookbok."
--Newsday

Product Description

This is a unique cookbook/art book that explores life in the artists' cafe, with traditional recipes ranging from the hearty to the refined. With the use of letters, engravings, postcards, and a selection of Van Gogh's paintings, Fred Leeman, former chief curator of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, helps to transport the reader back to the turn of the century, when cafes, their food and atmosphere, were integral parts of artists lives. Recipes are by Alexandra Leaf, one of America's foremost culinary historians.

Art and Cooking in a Gorgeous Cookbook 20 Oct 2006
By Carol D. O'Dell - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This gorgeous cookbook incorporates my favorite artist's life in cafes and historical cooking and recipes in a delightful cookbook that reads and views more like a work of art.

There is a tinge of sadness knowing that Aubuerge was his last home, but I find it amazing to make a dish that history has dined on and realize that many of these cafes still exist.

Van Gogh's Table: At the Auberge Ravoux will feed your soul and your belly. It is a visual and gastronomic treat.

Nice, but not as good as some other similar artist-recipe books 4 Nov 2009
By Earth Witch - Published on Amazon.com

Some nice pictures, but complicated recipes that I haven't been inspired to try. I doubt Vincent was dining on the food in this book. If I could only have one artist-recipe book I would go with the Monet edition. If I could have two I would pick the William Morris version as runner up. This one tied with the Renoir.
