Product Description

This Van Damme Professional Blue Series Studio Grade 2 x 1.5 mm (16AWG) - 5M Speaker Cable version of this popular cable range is ideal for satelite speakers or situations that require a small diameter cable. 1.5mm is equivalent to 16AWG.

The industry standard Van Damme range of blue series 2 core speaker cables has now been comprehensively upgraded. They now feature finer stranded conductors and utilise the latest PVC composite jacket materials to provide the highest level of flexibility married with totally efficient signal transmission. This range of cables is ideal for rehearsal and recording studio applications, but is equally at home in the live audio and presentation arena.

Van Damme now use a higher purity oxygen free copper for the conductors - Ultra Pure Oxygen Free Copper (UPOFC). The use of this material further improves the solderability and conductivity of the conductor resulting in faithful and transparent signal reproduction.

In common with most cables of its type, PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is used for the conductor insulation. There are many variant types of PVC used for cable insulation that may exhibit moderate, good or better electrical and mechanical properties. As speaker signals are essentially relatively high DC voltages, a low dielectric constant is not a priority. The PVC polymers used by Van Damme maximise the flexibility, heat resistance and stress resistance characteristics of PVC to ensure that there is a minimum of insulation shrinkback when soldering and a high level of flexibility even after years of use and abuse. The overall jacket material is a neoprene heavy special PVC composite that has an almost rubberised quality. This jacket is high pressure extruded over the 2 twisted inner conductors to create a robust, extremely flexible speaker cable that has excellent coilability in use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent cables 12 July 2011
The speaker cables I chose, Van Damme Blue Series Studio Grade, are excellent quality. The price makes them even more attractive! The casing is very protective but remains flexible for guiding around any objects blocking the way between amplifier and speaker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great 16 April 2011

Great quality cable for professional installations. It does have a decent jacket to insulate the signal both from thermal and RFI interferences. I have used several for my home cinema installation and I am very impressed with the result. The price is truly amazing for the quality offered (and this is coming from someone like me who has several hundred pound invested in just cables for my audio equipement).

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent cable 1 Jan 2014

I have purchased Van Damme cable before and am always impressed with it in whatever form. This 16 AWG cable is no exception - Well made with a rugged rubberised outer casing that is designed to be handled, moved, etc and it is very twist resistant too. The copper core strands are easy to work with and are generally very hard wearing but yet flexible. I have done the usual thing before - read all the HiFi magasine reviews of the current, trendy 'flavour of the month cabling' and then spent ages searching for the least inflated price i can find per meter.....only to be slightly underwhelmed when i actually get hold of it. The van Damme cable always sounds as good (If not better) as most other high end cables i have heard. It also looks great too with its blue coloured casing and white stencilling along its length. If you want a realistcaly priced, purposeful, long term, great sounding cable then i strongly recommend the Van Damme range as the supplier of choice.
