The artwork is excellent, the text adequate, but the pace is not as good as the first volume. however the overall historical representation of Vampirella is titillating.

KINDLE FIRE REVIEW

For a Kindle Fire download at the same cost of a cheeseburger meal, you get:
Deconstructed storytelling in both art and writing.
That means big panels with clean artwork and bright colors. Not too much verbiage, but enough to carry the story along while letting the art do it's job of telling a story. I find this a definite plus when you are reading on a Kindle Fire or tablet. The panel by panel jumping works well, but you can enjoy it without enlargement if your eyes are even moderately healthy. Download a quick sample to see what mean.
But the big bonus you get with this quick bit of visual entertainment is Warren Ellis. Even when writing pay for hire on company owned characters, he still delivers sharp dialogue, unique ideas, and interesting twists. He is never afraid to completely rewrite a character. In this case, the very convoluted history of Vampirella, with her multiple origins. And he does it well. This guy has rebooted more mainstream comics with quick 3 issue arcs, than any other writer I can think of. They keep using him for a reason. He does it very well and always entertains.
Two negatives, neither the fault of Ellis or his collaborators, but buyers should know:
Volume 2 (this one) should actually be volume one, with the Morrison/Millar volume being number two. That's the order the story took place originally. I can only guess that the publishers released them in the order of writer popularity, hoping to cash in on the star status of Grant and Mark.
Secondly, a couple of the panels are out of order when you use the Kindle panel by panel option. You will spot them easy and its only minor inconvenience because you can just switch to full page viewing and read it correctly.
All in all, a solid 4 stars for the price.
For the cost of a fast food meal, I say keep the empty calories off your gut, and put them in your brain instead.

Warren Ellis has consistently been a very good storyteller. He doesn't fail here either. The artwork is more than adequate making this a must read.

HASH(0x93ab054c) out of 5 stars Good artwork. OK stories. 9 Dec. 2013

The artwork is nice, colorful, and the visuals are easy on the eyes. The tales are not as good as i expected but not as bad as others ive read. 3 stars. On a side note... I cannot fault the book for this, but i really wish the Kindle Fire could read graphic novels better. No landscape mode and some of the panels were unreadable without a magnifying glass. C'mon Amazon. If Comixology can do it with a measly app then there is no excuse why you cannot do it with a tablet. Please address these issues. I will not be purchasing more graphic novels for the Kindle Fire. That is a shame since the screen is plenty large enough, so reading them should be easy. But its a chore and not a enjoyable experience.

HASH(0x93a2ca14) out of 5 stars WHY Bother 25 April 2015
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

Why would you bother to change the whole Vampirella story-line, first our heroine is from Draculon a planet who's water supply is actually blood and now she's the oldest daughter of Lilleth ADAM's first wife, REALLY-who is the idiot who came up with that one and why on earth would you try to re-create a classic character in such a stupid fashion. How foolish the writers.
This could have been a really great comic, but it was a stupid and senseless waste of time and money. The art was at times really decent, even sexy to an extent but the writers destroyed that aspect with a horrible story line, not to mention: No real plot. Bring back the old days storylines when our heroine was in real real peril, tied and chained, but would manage to get ouot and ripp monsters, demons and vampires apart. Don't they realize Vampirella gain her fame by being extremely sexy, always getting captured, sucking blood and ripping bad guys throats and guts out (at least some of that was done). Come on people get with the program, Vampirella needs perils and sexy to be exciting.

Keep trying maybe someday you'll get it right.
