THE VAMPIRES' LAST LOVER
The Dying of the Dark #1

Txema Ybarra is the most unenviable nineteen-year-old girl alive.

Smart, pretty, and athletically gifted, this University of Tennessee freshman should be enjoying college life and her entrance into adulthood. And for a moment she does…until the vampires show up.

Born with an unusual ‘twin teardrop’ birthmark on her neck, Txema (pronounced Chema) is one of only a handful of females in the world who bear this trait. It marks her as a vessel of eternal youth and beauty for an elite vampire society determined to protect her precious blood….But it also is the only thing standing in the way of a rogue ‘undead’ nation determined to destroy mankind and usurp the power their sexier brethren have held uncontested for centuries.

Caught in the middle of this war after all the other bearers of the birthmark are murdered, Txema must flee America and heads to France under the protection of five beautiful vampires who all have a vested interest in her survival. The race is on to save her blood, as well as her very life, to ensure the survival of Les Amantes de Vampire. Otherwise, Txema will be the last one…the vampires’ last lover.

DEADLY NIGHT
A Ghost Hunters 101 Novel

When Country singer Candi Starr is found dead along with two close associates in Nashville's esteemed West End, it proves to be just the beginning of a murder spree involving anyone close to the music superstar. This includes ghost hunter and psychic, Fiona Alea, who, along with her handsome rock n' roll husband, Jimmy, head up a local paranormal investigative team known as NVP, or Nash-Vegas Paranormal.

Soon Jimmy and Fiona find themselves on a roller-coaster thrill ride through some of Nashville's most renowned historic sites and famous haunts, where a gruesome discovery lies buried in the past. As horrifying revelations come to light, Jimmy and Fiona close in on an enemy both powerful and merciless—and the chilling truth behind Nashville’s darkest secret.

Acclaim for the Novels of Aiden James:

“The intense writing style of Aiden James kept my eyes glued to the story and the pages seemed to fly by at warp speed. …Twists, turns, and surprises pop up at random times to keep the reader off balance. It all blends together to create one of the best stories I have read all year.”
—Detra Fitch, Huntress Reviews for The Devil’s Paradise

“Aiden James has written a deeply psychological, gripping tale that keeps the readers hooked from page one.”
—Bookfinds review for The Forgotten Eden

“Not only is Aiden James a storyteller par excellence, but his material for his story is riveting.”
—Huntress Reviews for The Forgotten Eden

“The hook to this excellent suspense thriller is the twists that will keep readers wondering what is going on as nothing is quite what it seems. Adding to the excitement is that the audience will wonder whether the terror is an evil supernatural creature or an amoral human…Aiden James provides a dark thriller that grips fans from the opening.”
—Harriet Klausner, Amazon’s #1 book reviewer for The Forgotten Eden

“Aiden James writing style flows very easily and I found that Cades Cove snowballed into a very gripping tale. Clearly the strengths in the piece were as the spirit’s interaction became prevalent with the family… The Indian lore and ceremonies and the flashbacks to Allie Mae’s (earthly) demise were very powerful. I think those aspects separated the work from what we’ve seen before in horror and ghost tales.”
—Evelyn Klebert, author of A Ghost of a Chance and Dragonflies

“Aiden James is insanely talented!”
—J.R. Rain, author of Moon Dance and Vampire Moon

I've been a huge fan of Anne Rice for years, and grew up with a worn and dog-eared copy of Bram Stoker's Dracula stashed in my nightstand (and later tucked safely inside my backpack). Most of what's out there today is a little too 'syrupy' for my tastes, except for maybe Charlaine Harris and a few others. But "The Vampires' Last Lover" contains the perfect blend of what I love about Rice, Stoker, and Harris--a tightly written storyline that sucks you in from the first paragraph. Not to mention colorful and fun (and believable) vampires, and a really cool heroine, Txema Ybarra. Yes, there's romance--plenty of it. Txema is such an interesting character set apart from the typical 'damsel in distress' I've come across a lot of lately. And her birthmark 'affliction' is the most unique angle in the vampire genre I've seen in years.

I found Deadly Night to be even better than advertised. A sleek murder/mystery flavored with deadpan humor and rock n' roll flair! I'm usually pretty good at figuring out a plot's resolution ahead of time, but the killer's identity remained a maddening mystery until near the very end. I LOVE that aspect the most! Aiden James is among the very best at keeping readers on their toes!

I HIGHLY recommend this collection--trust me, you won't be disappointed!!

Great double billing! 13 Mar 2011

I really love the story of Txema, who is the last human being with blood that can make a vampire beautiful. Otherwise, they are all subject to a Chupacabra fate. The story was filled with unexpected thrills and plot twists that kept me turning pages deep into the night. My only regret is that there isn't a sequel yet, so I can find out what happens next in Txema's fight for survival. Readers who like the less syrupy vampire stories (Anne Rice, Elizabeth Kostova) should give this book a try. I doubt seriously that they'll be disappointed! With just enough romance to keep things interesting, Txema's birthmark 'affliction' is one of the most unique additions to the vampire genre that I've seen in quite some time.

Deadly Night turned out to be a wonderful murder/mystery. Lots of rock n' roll and dry deadpan humor kept me smiling all the way through this romp of a tale. And, every time I thought I knew who the killer was, it turned out I was dead wrong. I must say this author does an excellent job of keeping his audience guessing all the way until the surprising end.

Without hesitation, I highly recommend this double-book!

Good Read! 20 July 2011

It was a good read but with a twist! I didn't realize that stubborn meant stupid the woman the story is about acts more like she's 12 then 19. I might read the next book in the series to see if she starts to use some common sense.
