1.0 out of 5 stars Legalised Theft 15 Aug 2012
Format:DVD
Don't buy it...there said it....now you want to know why.
I actually bought this as an impulse buy for £3 in a superstore [note to self: get a gizmo to go online when impulse buying] as I got taken in by the cover; anyone else think Selene [Underworld], and that's the main problem, it sets your expectations too high.
So popped in the DVD expecting a good action film, instead got a Japanese geisha type running through the woods chased by Ninjas in what seemed to be low budget TV series filming. She comits suicide rather than be turned into a vampire, but a friendly samurai decides to save her as she has not fully 'turned' thus making her half human/half vampire. By now the proverbial penny begins to drop. The first question is asked; Was this made in the 80's? No actually 2005 and released under the original tile, Shira: Vampire Samurai, aka Shira, the Japanese Vampire. The original American [region 1] packaging is far more honest and more indicative of what you actually get, the sound, acting and music [anyone remember the Bontempi keyboard?]all yell 1980's. No it can't be, someones got a slimline mobile [cell] phone.
The second Question is; Was this a TV series? Don't think so but it has the feel of a TV pilot that bombed and was converted to a movie. The scenes and acting style are very similar to the Mortal Kombat TV series, but with less babes and the most cheesy/embarassing strip audition ever. In the present era, Shira [the heroine] surrounds herself with a group of modern day vampire hunters, reminding me of the early episodes of the Mutant X TV series as they try to bond via weak humour, but it doesn't work here.

1.0 out of 5 stars This vampire sucks the wrong way 11 Aug 2012
By popidle
Format:DVD
There are words in any language to describe the utter utter pointless waste of existence that this movie is. This is eighty eight minutes of my life I can never get back and it would have been time better spent acquiring an itchy disease than having the memory of this travesty. At least a disease has a cure. Much like watching a porn movie but with no sex,Vampire Shadows disappoints on levels you never knew existed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible Film, Zero star option please! 25 July 2012
Format:DVD
This film looks/sounds good on the sleeve but what a mistake that was, wish I hadn't bothered. I couldn't even get past the fist 15-20mins acting was really terrible and choreography was very clumsy and the whole film looked cheap and nasty.
