At prestigious Cross Academy, there are two sessions of classes, the Day Class and the Night Class. As the school's Disciplinary Committee, Yuki Cross and Zero Kiryu keep watch over the Day Class students, who are all infatuated with the beautiful, elite Night Class students. OK so lets get straight down to it, this is a romance between vampires and humans, this of course will lead to the twilight comparison being drawn up somewhere, don't let this put you off though, where twilight fails (essentially everywhere it possibly can) vampire knight gets right.
Unlike with twilight all the characters are instantly relate-able, it has good amount of action and also features some interesting sub plots underneath the romance triangle, a character trying to fight becoming the very thing he hates, somewhat racial tension issues between the vampires and humans, uncertain back story of the female lead, the mysterious element to the lead vampires intentions, all interwoven really well to give the story depth and keep you coming back for more.
Another thing vampire knight does well is convey vampires in the light they should be shown as, bringing across the ferality of vampires, the fact that they are at heart savage beasts when around humans despite them trying to fight it, oh and they don't sparkle thank god.
So yeah ultimately a brilliant vampire romance with more than just a love triangle going on, great art style and good pacing, seriously recommend people give this a go!

Vampire knight is now my new favourite tv show, you can't help but watch more and more, it grips you into its romantic and intense story. You can't help but fall in love with the characters.
This dvd box set has all of the season 1 episods 1-13 you can watch it in japanese with subs or in english dub, the english voice acting is well done and does not look or sound shabby.

I instantly loved Vampire Knight as soon as I watched the first episode. The storyline and the characters are gripping. Yuki Cross the lead female is a loveable and beautiful female lead role, who is caring, independent and unique. Zero Kiriyu is a strong, volatile leading male. Both these characters I became very attached to throughout the course of the anime, and the shocks and twists always kept me rooting for both of them. I also enjoyed how Koname Kuran was such a mysterious individual, and you never fully knew his full intentions throughout the duration of the anime- only that his love and adoration for Yuki would never fail.
I would recommend this to anyone who is relatively new at watching anime, the story line is fluid, straight to the point and easy to understand. The opening and closing songs are addictive, so beware.
All in all 10/10
