4.0 out of 5 stars Courtesy of Teens Read Too 11 Jan 2007
By TeensReadToo TOP 100 REVIEWER
Format:Hardcover
First of all, I just want to say that this is the second book in the series, picking up right where the first one left off, so it is highly suggested that KISSING COFFINS be read after VAMPIRE KISSES. Consider that your warning. Now that that's out of the way, on to the book!

Goth-girl Raven has just discovered that her boyfriend, Alexander Sterling, new to the town of "Dullsville," is an actual vampire. Unfortunately, the morning after this startling discovery, he disappears. Raven is devastated, but doesn't dare ask anyone for help for fear they will discover his secret.

She decides to take the matter into her own hands and sets off to look for clues to his whereabouts, determined to find him and convince him that she is perfectly fine with the fact that he is one of the undead. Her search leads her to the Mansion, where she finds a mysterious note in Alexander's bedroom that only says, "Alexander, HE IS ON HIS WAY!" She then takes a trip to nearby "Hipsterville," home of hippies, Goths, starving artists, her aunt Libby, and, hopefully, Alexander.

Following a trail of clues, she visits the Coffin Club (a popular hangout for Goths), the Hipsterville Historical Society (who knew that would be helpful?), and a deserted mansion on the outskirts of town (that's hopefully not really deserted at all).

She also meets the mysterious and slightly creepy Jagger, who offers to help her with her search. But is he just a Goth-obsessed teen like Raven, or is he the real thing? And why does he seem so interested in Alexander?

KISSING COFFINS is a fun, quick read for those looking for a vampire story without the blood and gore. However, the writing is often quite shallow, and the relationship between Raven and Alexander is never really fully developed enough for my taste. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy the book, and I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the series.

3.0 out of 5 stars goth, romance, ellen schreiber, vamptastic 22 Aug 2010
By Rebecca
Format:Hardcover
Raven seemed to have matured a bit from the first book. I think she finally understood that her delusion of becoming a vampire. Harsh Reality hit and Her romantic notions of becoming one of the undead was that a delusion. She still loves Alexander, but she knows that she wants to live, not be undead. She is not quite ready to give up her friends, her family and her life. This I admire about her. The only thing I found Raven missing was her sense of humor from the first book. Don't get me wrong, she was funny at times, but I was not lol-ing all over the place.
The plot seemed to easy, to contrived. Everything fell into place. I am specifically thinking of when Raven went to Hipsterville and the Coffin Club, and her getting the fake id from her brother eleven-year-old friend. I wasn't drinking that kool aid. Other than that I liked the whole Luna/Jagger storyline and am sure we will see them in future books.
Alexander is still mysterious, but I wish we could have gotten to see more and learn more from him. I guess that is the point though, if we knew everything about him now what would keep us reading till the end.
There were quite a few times that I found things too much like another vampire book. For example, Alexander said him and his family know as "vampire vegetarians." Hello, Twilight anyone? The biggest similarity was Alexander leaving Raven because he loves her and wants to protect from himself and his kind. Again, Twilight. At least this heroine didn't pine over her love and become a shell of her former self. She was proactive. That I can dig.

5.0 out of 5 stars my first book reveiw (8 year old girl) 19 Aug 2010
A Kid's Review
Format:Paperback
Vampire Kisses 2- Kissing Coffins is the best light read book I have read so far.
Goth-girl Raven has just found out that her boyfreind is a vampire. But the morning after the "welcome to the neighbourhood" party she finds Alexander missing, along with his butler Jamson.

Raven refuses to tell anyone about what has happend and she has to lie to her parents to set on a search for Alexander. She leaves "Dullsville" and goes to her Aunt Libbys place in "Hipsterville".In Hipsterville there is a night club called "The Coffin Club" where she meets the strange and shadowy Jagger. But why is Jagger so keen on finding Alexander? Is Jagger a goth life Raven or is he the real deal? Also who is the strange girl Luna who Jagger keps talking about?

This book is funny and romantic. It is a very enjoyable book to read.Ellen Schreiber is exellent at describing the characters feelings. It is a good book for vampire lovers.
