Product Description

Mother, wife, private investigator...vampire. Seven years ago, federal agent Samantha Moon was the perfect wife and mother, your typical soccer mom with the minivan and suburban home. Then the unthinkable happens, an attack that changes her life forever. And forever is a very long time for a vampire.

Now in VAMPIRE DAWN, Samantha Moon tackles her most frightening case yet. Someone is leaving victims drained of blood, and all signs point to the killer not being a vampire. Meanwhile, Sam can't help but notice the changes coming over her son...fantastical changes that will leave her searching desperately for answers.

As Sam tracks down a ruthless killer, and as her own humanity slips further and further away, an ancient relic holds a secret that will rock her world...and open up a whole new one.

**Acclaim for the Novels of J.R. Rain**

"Gripping, adventurous, and romantic—J.R. Rain's The Lost Ark is a breakneck thriller that traces the thread of history from Biblical stories to current-day headlines. Be prepared to lose sleep!"
—JAMES ROLLINS, international bestselling author of The Devil Colony

"I enjoyed this immensely. The protagonist, Samantha Moon, is a female vampire with a husband and children. Those predate her condition; six years ago she was attacked by a vampire and rendered into one. Now she's trying to carry on with family and private eye business, and she's a feisty, skilled person, so is doing mostly okay. It is not a horror story; she buys animal blood to eat and doesn't generally prey on humans. But her husband has an increasing problem with her coldness—not of spirit, but of body. 'You sicken me and scare the hell out of me,' he tells her. 'And when I touch you it's all I can do to not gag.' She replies, 'Words every wife wants to hear.' I love this! What makes it special are her character and nature."
—PIERS ANTHONY, bestselling author of A Spell for Chameleon

"Dark Horse is one of the best books I've read in a long time! A great classic detective story with a modern twist. Unique and interesting characters (I think I'm half in love with Jim Knighthorse now!), a great plot that kept me guessing until the end, and some of the funniest lines I've read anywhere."
—GEMMA HALLIDAY, bestselling author of Spying in High Heels

"J.R. Rain delivers a blend of action and wit that always entertains. Quick with the one-liners, but his characters are fully fleshed out (even the undead ones) and you’ll come back again and again."
—SCOTT NICHOLSON, bestselling author of Liquid Fear

"Impossible to put down. J.R. Rain's Moon Dance is a fabulous urban fantasy."
—APRIL VINE, author of Intrigue In India

"Moon Dance is absolutely brilliant!"
—LISA TENZIN-DOLMA, author of Understanding the Planetary Myths

"J.R. Rain is the new modern master of vampires."
—H.T. NIGHT, #1 bestselling Kindle author of Vampire Love Story

"I love Jim Knighthorse! Please write faster, Mr. Rain!"
—ELAINE BABICH, #1 bestselling Kindle author of You Never Called Me Princess

"Moon Dance is a must read. If you like Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter, be prepared to love J. R. Rain's Samantha Moon, vampire private investigator."
—EVE PALUDAN, author of Letters from David

"I totally loved The Body Departed. As someone who communicates with those who are either earthbound or have crossed over—your descriptions and interpretations of the dialogue and circumstances could not have been written more accurately."
—JULIE BELMONT, author of The Path to Personal Success and Freedom

"Powerful stuff!"
—AIDEN JAMES, bestselling author of The Vampires' Last Lover

"Jim Knighthorse is a throwback to classic detectives, which is probably why I love him so much. Funny, street-smart, and tough as nails. I love this series."
—SUMMER LEE, author of Angel Heart

“Is it possible to redefine two genres in one book? I don’t know, but J.R. Rain has left a lasting impression for the vampire and mystery genres.”
—P.J

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but a bit of a con!! 22 Mar 2012
By Mazz
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Having discovered the Samantha Moon series by accident on the Kindle I have become totally hooked but I felt cheated with this last installment because only 65% of the download was the actual story. The other 35% was adverts for other authors and even worse was the Christmas Novella ( Samantha Moon 4.5 ) in full which I had already bought and paid for!!
The story in it's self is a good read and follows on nicely from the previous installments but is let down by the shortness of the story!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good read but short 19 Mar 2012
By BGirl
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have mixed feelings about JR Rain's work, on the one hand it has good writing, great characterisation and plotlines but every single one of her books is short with about 20% given over to previews of her other works or those of someone else. This one is even worse in that it is 65% novel 35% hype of other works. Whilst she does warn of this at the beginning of the book, I'm afraid its just not good enough. Not at all satisfactory and the author is guilty of passing of an extended short story as a novel when at most it would count as a novella. Hence the three stars, a good read but a bit of a rip off. Is there any chance that the next book in the series will actually be a complete novel?

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointingly short 9 April 2012
By LunaMay
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm a huge fan of JR Rain but this latest addition to the Samantha Moon series was a big disappointment. There was a lot of repetition and retelling from past stories and the novel itself was seriously short. That said the writing was as always entertaining and the plot was good but could have been brilliant if JR had spent longer on it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not great value for money. 14 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I've read every book in the series and know how the author works with this series by now.
Every book leads on to the next book and really this is no different.
However, this is starting to irritate me now as I can buy a book at a local store for slightly more than they're charging for this Kindle vesion and get a full book to read.
This is a short story and 1.49 would be a fairer price.
There's no disputing the books are interesting but 'Vampire Dawn' isn't worth the current asking price.
I would recommend you wait until the price drops below 2.00 before buying as I see you can now buy the first three books for less than the asking price they're charging for book five.

Good, but not great value for money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cheated - short story 10 April 2012
By Jojo
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I too felt ripped off, when I was just getting into the book and realised it was ending! It most definitely should have been sold as a Novella and that way I most definitely WOULD NOT have purchased it.....She has lost my custom and that of another 2 people in my office (we have a Kindle club) to whom I reccommended her as being a great author with the Samantha Moon books proving a good read with great character development. Regardless of that however, I feel cheated out of the cost of my purchase and wont' buy another of her books.
Two stars for the length of the book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great story but rip off book 30 Mar 2012
By bates
Format:Kindle Edition
I really enjoy the Moon for hire serie and am used to the extra chapters from other books at the end. This book however takes it too far. Only 67% of the kindle book is the story the rest is trying to sell you other story's by the author. Was a cheap book with a great SHORT story don't expect anything else? No where near long enough to stand alone as a book

I love these books! now addicted to J.R,Rain! Samanatha Moon is a great character and different a mother turned into a vampire dealing with her job and kids as a single mother then dealing with her paranormal life!. I really enjoyed this couldn't put it down. I was so glad that Sam's relationships with her children are being exsplored more. I just hope we get some more history into her creator! must read collection for any one that loves vampire books and the paranormal!
