Format: Paperback
The book went into great detail about the vampire and it's physical descriptions and characteristics. The book, also had, very nicely reaserched facts on the life of Vlad Dracul, as well as his son. The book, over all, was a very great information source on the creatures of the night. The reason that I gave this book four stars instead of five is because it was too much of an introduction and did not go into in depth detail .

I am a huge fan of vampires, I bought this to add to my collection of books on the subject. It didnt tell me too much i didn't already know but it is a good read. It's got everything you need to know if you are only just getting into this sort of thing and provides a good bibliography for further reading and research.

A beautiful mix of quotes, facts, myths and legends - blended with stunning photographic images. It doesn't matter if you are just a Buffy fan or into Vlad Dracul - the book is a fascinating read, which will leave you hunger for more.

Good read for a beginner 25 Jun. 2000
By Jeffrey Leeper - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
The author has done quite a bit of research, but much of this information is already known if you are a vampire enthusiast. For more indepth information, the reader would need to go elsewhere.
There are good photographs throughout which quality add a more "otherworldly" touch to the book through their color.
It is a good introduction to the vampire.

This helped me a lot 6 Aug. 2000
By MacGirl1985 - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I'm writing a book about vampires, and I used this book as a reference. It does a fantastic job of explaining the different types of vampire myths in different cultures as well as the literary and cinematic vampires. It is arranged in an A to Z fashion with cross references which makes easy to skim for pleasure or research.

Good starting place 29 Mar. 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This was a very good book, expecially for begining vampire fanatics. Many of the basics are here, including suggestions for futher reading, in novels at least. The pictures are great. The Countess Bathory part is not accurate, and the Vlad Dracula part isn't wholly accurate either. Don't use this as your only guide. This is really a good place to start, and the pictures in them selves are worth it.

Myths explained or just explored? 14 May 2003
By Katharina Katt - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This is a great book and I've actually purchased it twice! This is a must have for anyone interested in vampires and vampire myths. Telling the stories and investigations of vampires this book gives you a good insight on what is true or not, yet in the end wondering if vampires really do exist or if they have only been in our imaginations all along.
