Passable attempt at a vampire movie
on 7 August 2012
Despite the review of this film on IMDB it does actually have a story line that although corny does make sense. A vampire king dies in battle and is reincarnated 200 years later in the body of a gay loser. His two faithful companions have searched for him through the centuries and now have to convince him to accept his heritage and save the vampire race from the brink of extinction.
What lets this movie down is its writer and star Martin Yurkovic who initially plays his role as a bitchy gay queen so over the top that he can't redeem it later in the film. The part requires some degree of sympathy for the character but he blows it away and even his musical number which was actually quite good doesn't save him.
In contrast the female lead played by Dreama Walker is cute and funny and although too prone to use of the 'F' word is an appealing character. Credit also to the female vampire played by Bonnie Swencionis who also has some good moments.
I'm guessing this is meant to be a black comedy but it isn't funny enough to qualify as a comedy or horrific enough to go the other way.
I bought it for my vampire collection but probably won't watch it again.
