Despite the review of this film on IMDB it does actually have a story line that although corny does make sense. A vampire king dies in battle and is reincarnated 200 years later in the body of a gay loser. His two faithful companions have searched for him through the centuries and now have to convince him to accept his heritage and save the vampire race from the brink of extinction.
What lets this movie down is its writer and star Martin Yurkovic who initially plays his role as a bitchy gay queen so over the top that he can't redeem it later in the film. The part requires some degree of sympathy for the character but he blows it away and even his musical number which was actually quite good doesn't save him.
In contrast the female lead played by Dreama Walker is cute and funny and although too prone to use of the 'F' word is an appealing character. Credit also to the female vampire played by Bonnie Swencionis who also has some good moments.
I'm guessing this is meant to be a black comedy but it isn't funny enough to qualify as a comedy or horrific enough to go the other way.
I bought it for my vampire collection but probably won't watch it again.

Well vampire films don't come much stranger than this. More Dragula than Dracula, Vamperifica is the tale of Carmen, a gay Vampire king.

On the hole, this isn't too bad a film - there's a decent story in there and there are moment of good acting, good comedy and good special effects; but the problem is this film doesn't really know what it is.

Is it serious a serious vampire film? No. Is it a comedy? North really. It falls somewhere in between the two, and so for me it fails as a decent film.

I didn't mind it. It just would have been better as an all-out comedy or if they'd used the backstory for a normal vampire film. It's won plenty of awards apparently but I think that's mainly because it's such a novelty.

There were times I actually laughed in this movie. Not because it was funny. Only because the dialogue was laughably ridiculous.

Also, just because one of the characters in a movie is gay, even if he is a main character, it doesn't qualify it as a gay film. Unless there is a romance, a coming out and coming to terms, or some other gay theme, it's just a movie with a gay character.

it can be chessey in places, but some of the acting is good, the gour is good. the effect realistic, not a bad story line, the main guy is very camp, i liked it and would recommened, not bad for a low budget film i enjoyed it, plus there good songs in there too
