Vampcon is unlike any vampire story I have ever read. In fact it's unlike any story I've read. In Armand Inezian's take on the old legend every vampire has a unique ability based upon the sins they committed before they were turned from mortal to vampire.
For example, a priest who had an unhealthy fear of mortality finds that he has the power to be able to show people where they are fated to die.
I found myself wondering what special abilities some of the priests who've been in the news recently might have had, but that's besides the point.
I think my favourite character was Ariel Lockhart of the house of Greyson. A nice play on words here, with a nod towards Armand's publisher. In life she turned a blind eye to terrible crimes being committed around her. Now, as a vampire, she lives in darkness, travelling the Dark Corridor, slipping in and out of shadows at will.
The central character, Jonathan Stoker, was turned by the beautifully named Genevieve Sint Joris because she enjoyed the irony of turning a man named Stoker. Jonathan suffers from clinical depression. As Armand puts it, "Jonathan didn't like to think about families, and the idea of children brought tendrils of depression creeping into his mind."
Ariel Lockhart has the ability to cast 'summoners'; spells so powerful they can rearrange time and space. One such summoner has commanded Jonathan to attend a vampire congregation in Boston. Donnach McRory ( good to see Scottish skulduggery replacing the usual Eastern European vampire variety. ) has demanded the attendance of every vampire at the `Vampcon'. However McRory is himself possessed by a demonic spider creature, so that this congregation will be less about singing and hand clapping and more about carnage and mayhem.

I've just finished this book and really enjoyed it. I'm a bit of a sucker for vampire stories but this is really different. Some amazing stuff goes on, like vampires that shape-shift or turn into giant spider demons. Lots of action all the way through and strong characters. Brilliant!

Could not put it down!!! 18 Oct. 2012
By Michael Reed - Published on

I never use to be a big reader. It wasn't until I started reading about topics that interest me. History, true stories and world events eventually became my passion and I couldn't get enough of them.

Then this book (Vampcon) came across my path. I'm not the usual vampire enthusiast. Sure I dressed as one for Halloween in my youth and The Lost Boys is one of my all time favorite movies; but I wasn't really on the recent vampire bandwagon with all the movies and TV shows. But I needed a new book to read so I decided to give this author a shot.

To say it simply, this book is Incredible.
Action packed, lots of drama, comedy, suspense, backstabbing, you name it. Plus the characters are developed so well that I feel as if I know them. I finished the book in 3 days. The only reason it took me that long was because the more I read, the sooner I was done. I didn't want it to be over.

The action never stops. As soon as I thought I knew what was going to happen, I'm thrown a curve ball and the story goes somewhere else. I would finish a chapter and think to myself "ok just one more." 10 chapters later and I'm still saying the same thing.

To say the least, if your looking for an exciting adventure that keeps you begging for more READ THIS BOOK!

I'm not a vampire addict, but after reading this book, I feel as if I've been bitten

My only complaint is that there is no sequel. Well at least not yet. I hope the author decides to write one. I hope you check your reviews Mr. Inezian.

VampCon is terrific. 28 Oct. 2012

I read / listen to about a dozen books a year, I am reading it for the second time as I write this review, the only other book I have ever read twice in a span of two months is "Ready Player One". There are so many vampire books and It is a genre that I have never really been hooked on, I can't get enough of this book. It is so much more than a vampire book, it's an action, an adventure, a sci-fi, a real roller coaster ride. The book is set in Modern Day Boston and takes you all over the place including another universe!! There is something in this book for everyone. It's a quick read and non stop awesomeness, I am left wanting so much more. I can't wait to see what lies in the future.

Gory, Bloody Vanps! 29 Sept. 2012
By NLE - Published on
Format: Paperback
Jonathan Stoker was movin' on. He'd been in the same place quite happily (if a vampire can be happy!) for too long. He was becoming content and that was bad. It meant things could happen - like the invitation to the Congregation of Houses to be held soon by the "new ruler".
Jonathan tries anyway he can to get out of the city and up to Canada but no matters how hard he tries, Fate (in this case a blind vamp named Ariel) intervenes. He must attend. He is an heir to one of the leading families, it is possible they can bring down the new ruler if they all cooperate.
Against his leanings, Jonathan goes. His son found the invitation that Jon burned to ashes (Ariel's doing?) and is intending to meet him there. Bad idea. The "VampCon" as everyone is calling it is a trap. Brilliantly executed by Donnach McRory and his warriors. No one is meant to live. Some do and that's when the trouble really starts
Jonathan, his son, a very interesting shapeshifter called HJ and several members of other Houses band together to stop Donnall. Whether they do or not is the tale this book tells. If you are a vamp fan you will want to pick this one up. Very gory and quite well done.

WOW - WHAT A BOOK- I LOVE IT. 6 Dec. 2012
By Melissa Bryan - Published on
Format: Paperback
This is a great book...with interesting twists and turns; vampires getting together for a convention.

The main characters are fascinating and it was effortless to like and/or hate them. The plot is complex and attention-grabbing. It isn't like any other vampire book that is out there don't know what each chapter will keeps you involved. It is fast moving and I couldn't stop reading because I had to find out what was going to happening next. I was so far on the edge of my chair that I fell to the floor. I am kidding about falling but not about the book being so damn good.

The only this I didn't like about it was I would have liked to have seen a real convention I think it would have been humorous (like new stuff to make the vamps happier and healthier) but then it isn't my book and I liked the way it was written and there are all kinds of conventions, i.e., business, comic-con, tech.

The book is well written and I am eagerly awaiting many more books from Armand...keep them coming I am your #1 Fan!

wonderful book! loved it. 17 Nov. 2012

this was a truly wonderful book. the characters were intriguing and full of depth and vitallity. it was very easy to become emotionally connected to each of the characters and to empathize with them and what they were going through. the plot was also complex and stimulating and was not one of those that you could solve in the first 5 minutes but it left you guessing until the end as to who did what. a truely great story by a gifted writer. if this is the type of book that you enjoy then this is the book for you.

i look forward to reading more book by this author in the future.
