Valley of the sun was the first book i've read from E.Lowell and i loved it . I felt in love with this book and with Rio and Hope .Rio is all a man should be ,strong and brave ,tender and sensitive but a man without no roots ; Hope Gardener is a wonderful dreamer,brave enought to fight for her farm to the last consequences and also fighting for the love of Rio. In spite of this they seam real and so does the love they share from each other .Rio a man without no dreams and expectations ,helps Hope to find water to make her dream of reconstructing her land , and build a new life, come true.Rio becames a dreamer too ,all he wants is to share a life with Hope in the new Valley of the sun .This book brought me into tears at the end , every time i read it .

I just loved this book. I read it about 10 years ago. Lost it and spent 5 years looking for a copy. Sorry, I'm not lending it out again. I've read a few of Lowell's more recent books and I still believe that this is one of her best. Rio and Hope are two characters you'll always remember and I find myself re-reading this book everytime I feel down. I hope they'll think about re-releasing it. Don't bother to expand on it, you can't improve on a good book.

This novel was reissued recently as Beautiful Dreamer. It is good to have previously unavailable works available again, but a real enthusiast for the author's work can find herself inadvertently buying a repackaged book that she already owns. I vote for more disclosure!
