Book Description

The future does not belong to us anymore. The mighty Wolfen of Valkeryn, descendants of the canines of the era of man, have ruled for many millennia. But now their kingdom has fallen to the monstrous hordes and the remaining Wolfen scattered.
Arnold ‘Arn’ Singer, a youth from the past and perhaps the last human being alive on the planet, finds himself cast into this maelstrom of chaos and horror.
He seeks answers to the missing Ancients – mankind itself.
But back in his time the world continues to destabilize. The portal through which he fell is destroying the planet. The portal must be closed. Arn holds the key, and our world and its future is at stake.

Colonel Marion Briggs leads a team of Special Operations soldiers into the distant future, fully armed and with one order – bring back Arn or his body.
But there are more dangers in this strange and beautiful world than anyone knew. More horrors dwell in the deep jungles, below the inland seas and deep below the earth. There are things that can change the shape of two worlds, tear at sanity, and stretch friendships and loves to the limit.

Valkeryn is an epic adventure that spans worlds and time itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent continuation to the first 24 Nov. 2013

What a great adventure! This book was the well awaited continuation of the story from Return of the Ancients. The end of the first book was quite the cliffhanger, as many loose plot lines were left unanswered. This story took care of all of that while adding a few more questions as to the origins of certain things in the future world.

If you liked the first book and was eager to see what happened to our main protagonist, Arn, this second book certainly didn't disappoint at all. It had all the trappings of a great sequel: new characters in new locales, old characters continuing on with the main plot line, main character development and growth, and in the end, many subplots all coalescing into one dramatic finish.

The ending of this book left it open for a third, although the story would need to be tweaked with as the whole paradox surrounding a future timeline would inevitably change. Overall it was a great young adult book that mixed in fantasy with hard, biological, and evolutionary science. Beck has yet again created fast-paced, literary escape that I just couldn't put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic 26 Nov. 2013

Just finished reading the second book in this series and boy it was brilliant, it was even better than the first book Return of the Ancients. It had more military action in this book and the action never lets up. Greig has not written a bad story yet and I have thoroughly enjoyed all his books. Just do yourself a favour and read it, you won't be disappointed.

A more than fitting follow-up to Valkeryn 1 this has everything and more - bad guy cats, hero wolves and killer crabs! Loved the Arn Singer story, loved that there was so much character development in amongst the action. Definitely hope we haven't seen the last of Arn Singer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Action/adventure 3 Jan. 2014

Greig Beck's incredible imagination exceeds reason, as he takes Arn on a dimensional journey through time. Arn only a teenager is accidentally propelled into this new world, where time as we know it stops. Once there his fight for survival begins, and in Valkeryn 2 he reaches the dark lands where he faces mysteries, unimaginable horrors and enchantments on his journey to finish his quest to help save a race he prides as his spoilers.. I loved it, it was one of the best time travel, viking myth, action-adventure, love stories I've ever read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, better than the first book! 3 Dec. 2013

I had a pretty well written and thought out review typed up (I was quite proud and full of myself ;-) when my computer decided to give me the dreaded blue screen of death. So, all I am going to say is that if you like the first book you will LOVE this book. I really liked the first book but in book 2, the main characters are developed in even greater detail and presented to us in an awesome story. I was disappointed in the ending but only because I wanted the story to continue. Hopefully the author will find a way to continue this story!

If you haven't read the first book and like action/adventure/sci fi then give it a shot. I think you will like it.

Happy reading!
