Product Description

As everyone knows, when great warriors die their reward is eternal life in Odin's bijou little residence known as Valhalla. But Valhalla has changed. It has grown. It has diversified. Just like any corporation, the Valhalla Group has had to adapt to survive. Unfortunately, not even anomniscient Norse god could have prepared Valhalla for the arrival of Carol Kortright, one-time cocktail waitress, last seen dead, and not at all happy. VALHALLA is the sparkling new comic fantasy from a writer who can turn misery into joy, darkness into light, and water into a very pleasant lime cordial

This book was very different from what I am normally read, but a lot better than a lot of books I have read. If you like fantasy, but with a modern twist in it, this is the book for you. A god with a grudge, an agent for a god, and an auditarium where all the greatest heroes in the world sit watching paint dry - this novel has got them all! Carol Kortright, cocktail waitress is killed by a grudge holding god to get revenge on her father for giving the before said god the job of janitor of Valhalla. Valhalla... Where every dream and deepest desire comes true! Sounds good? Read on to find your world tipped upside down......

Vlahalla is one of Holt's masterpieces.

There are many aspects of the story which garauntees the reader laughing on his back by the end of the paragraph. This, combined with a synical but also funny concepts from other different fictionals, such as Star Trek, makes Holt perhaps one of the most daring authors that I have read. He has the tendancy to "boldly go where no man has gone before", into the realms of other ideas, to incorporate them into his own book.

The main storyline is very humourous, if not overly fictional, and quite nifty in some places. Nevertheless, Holt has managed to control this humour and direct it where he wants.

A true master of comedy.

This book is very precise, and almost instantly gets the reader interested. From the word go, you just have to keep on turning the pages. I read this book in three sittings, and was incredibly pleased with it's quality. Tom Holt offers more than just readable material. He offers the comedy and confusion that keeps everybody involved. It may take a few chapters to fully understand what is happening, but it is an incredible book and a great read. I advice it greatly.

Thank you.
