Product Description

Bob Marley had it all planned out when he took the job in London, work, save, go. But life has a funny way of taking plans and tying knots in them, especially when your plans are reliant on others. In Bob's case, the others are his two best friends and colleagues, Mark Hammond, a small time crook, and a shameless womaniser by the name of Chris Whicker.
Spending every night in the pub isn't the ideal way to save money for the trip of a lifetime. Australia seems further away than ever, even more so now that Chris has fallen in love with Wendy.
Winston Valentine goes through life like a hurricane, destroying everything in his path, without a thought for anyone other than himself. He lives an existence lacking direction, until he comes into some money in the most unpleasant of circumstances and meets three young men with a dream, a dream that he quite likes the sound of. The last few days had been shocking, even by his standards, and that corpse wouldn't remain undiscovered forever.
Wendy has to take control of her life again, meeting Chris had provided the spark that she needed. It was something she should have done a long time ago, when her boyfriend got sent down.
Mark Hammond appreciated Bob getting him a job, trying to keep him on the straight and narrow, but it wasn't really working out, having to get up at the crack of dawn, getting dirty and taking crap off the foreman every day. Not to mention, having a lunatic inviting himself into their lives, but an opportunity has arisen to make enough money to set them on their way, now to find a way of separating Winston from his hard earned cash.
Chris and Bob knew that they would have to deal with Winston one way or another, people like him don't go away quietly. Mark was one step ahead, it was his turn to do what he's good at, get the monster out of the way long enough so that he could help himself to his ill gotten gains.
What nobody had taken into account was Winston's past catching up to him first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Page turner from the onset! 28 Aug 2012
By S Noble
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a page turner in the truest sense.... non stop believable fiction drawn from today's totally messed up society. The ongoing use of the "C" word from the start will put some readers off so if you are easily offended don't read or get a grip and enjoy! With various plausible endings you are left wondering how who when and where.... a great short story and I'm hopeful of more from this author.
Well done mate!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read! 3 July 2012
By Roofman
Format:Kindle Edition
From the first page you get the impression that this is going to be a great quality, no holds barred, gritty English black comedy story.
It's about a trio of builders from Leicester who work in a building site in London and a psychopathic Londoner who seems to cross paths with them at every turn.
The author seems to keep you gripped from the outset with several interlinked plots that always seem to come back to the crazy Winston who you definitely wouldn't want as a drinking buddy.
It's funny, foul mouthed and reminded me a bit of Ben Eltons stories which are the only books that have ever made me laugh.
I'm looking forward to seeing what else the author comes up with next.
For anyone who has read 'The Facebook Killer' you'll love this

4.0 out of 5 stars Disturbing, but a thumping good read 12 Mar 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the first book in over two decades that I have read in one sitting. Granted, it's not very long, but even so, I just had to know what happened next. The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the language, which although I felt was necessary to some degree, I did find the constant use of the 'C' word a bit of a chore, after a while. But it's a good, fast paced story, not for the faint hearted, and with a real twist in the end. I would definitely think of reading more from this author. I just hope that Winston doesn't come back to haunt my dreams!

5.0 out of 5 stars Valentines day treat! 27 Jun 2012
By Emstar
Format:Kindle Edition
What can I say, a thoroughly gripping read. Once I had started reading I couldn't put it down, it tore me away from re-reading a song of ice and fire (which should be a recommendation on its own). The characters are well thought and written some will remind you of someone you know others you will be glad you didn't. It twists and turns at break neck speed and will keep you entranced until the thrilling finale!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lock-Stock meets Aufedersein Pet on Steroids 25 Jun 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
The "real life language" can be a bit ripe and colourful in places for some, but well worth the read. If you think "Lock-Stock meets Aufedersein Pet on Steroids" you'll have a good idea of the book's colourful content.

I like the way the author describes the scenes and then leaves it up to you and your own imagination to "paint" the pictures in your mind, a bit like a great movie without the mood-music that tells you what to expect next, although I'm not sure if I'm entirely happy with the author or the books main character hanging out inside my head.

It's a true to life account of the building site comedic mentality, with all it's hilarious twists and turns mixed with the deep, dark, nasty side of life.

It's full of surprises from hilariously funny to "watch your back" kind of scary. I can see this book being made into a film although even after a long, hard think, I don't know who'd play the main character, there's no-one out there quite like Winston!

I'll leave it right there, I don't want to spoil your experience of the book, so, buy it and have a good damn read but remember, leave a light on or hide behind the settee as Winston Valentine will mess with your mind, just thank God that he can't mess with your body!
