Book Description

1 Dec 1990
Coulter considers the relationship of vaccination to autism, hyperactivity, allergies, autoimmune diseases, and learning disabilities. He carries his argument into the social realm, suggesting a connection between neurological damage and the present high level of criminality in American society. Vaccination, Social Violence, and Criminality will become a cornerstone in the ongoing debate about childhood vaccinations.

5.0 out of 5 stars all is not well in the world of vaccination 2 Aug 2012
Format:Paperback
This book is a seminal work in the debate over the damage caused by vaccination, and came about following the late author's work with the families of children who had been damaged by the pertussis vaccine.

It must be clear to anyone who has given even a cursory glance at the issue of vaccine damage that there is a massive conspiracy of official silence over this issue. Studies (and there are many of them) that point the finger at vaccines for the damage that they cause to a significant minority of babies and toddlers are rubbished, whilst honest medical figures such as Dr Andrew Wakefield have their certificates to practice medicine removed 'pour encourager les autres'. On a recent BBC radio four Woman's Hour program, the singer Chaka Khan was asked by interviewer Jane Garvey about her work for autistic children. Ms Khan began to recite the story of her nephew, a bright toddler, who received vaccinations and suddenly changed to a withdrawn little boy. He was later diagnosed as autistic. Ms Khan was silenced by Ms Garvey who stated, 'But you know there is no evidence of a link between vaccination.' This is the official line and the employment within the media of personalities who are members of organisations with the aim of talking up conventional medical treatments whilst denigrating viewpoints that run counter to such orthodoxy, makes sure this is the story the public are presented with.

Harris Coulter does an extremely good job of presenting the history of autism in this book. It is often claimed by supporters of the status quo on vaccination that autism has always existed but not previously recognised. Dr Coulter draws out the parallels between the introduction of the pertussis vaccine for whooping cough and the sudden appearance of children who came to be called autistic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very HOT Topic - Buy and Read if you are a parent 3 Mar 2002
By George Washington - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
If you think you are doing the right thing by getting your child vaccinated, think again! And truly investigate it. There is enough evidence now to conclude that S.I.D.S., asthma, autism, ADD, ADHD, epilepsy and Epstein Barr are linked to childhood vaccinations.
A vaccine in and of itself is a great thing, however, it is the addition of toxic heavy metals, and other ingredients used to attenuate a microbe that make it deadly. ...
When a child is born, it is born without myelin (a fatty protective coating) attached to the nervous system. When we introduce these toxic substances to a baby's unprotected nervous system we are gambling. Gambling that the child will not react violently to the stressor. Many of these affects are not reported, those that are, are labeled, "underlying brain conditions." Now I have been reading that the CDC is now working on a vaccine that has 95-100 different vaccines in one shot. The issue today Look out, Be careful, Investigate first, then decide.
The arguement here is; either you are considered a freeloader (herd immunity - protected in a population by those vaccinated) by protecting your right to good health, or you are a conformist. The conformists believe in the vaccine and its health benefits, and those that question suppositions are considered the "outcasts" - or the ones who "are not part of the team." The CDC is now using the September 11 attacks to mandate small pox vaccine.
As for the book, I think despite other criticisms that the author is very knowledgable about the issues and presents a good case for not vaccinating. Harris presents parents who have had children who have been damaged by - what he believes -are the vaccinations. Harris suggests that previosly mentioned "non-reported" effects of vaccinations are creating socially handcapped people. Harris Coulter has my respect for service in 2 presidential cabinets as an interpreter, and for investigating this topic and taking a stand. Well written.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't let the title scare you 16 Aug 2000

When I first started on this book I had begun to form some opinions on the subject of childhood vaccinations. Afterward, they were firmly set.
Well written and well referenced, I literally couldn't put this book down. Truly a remarkable book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating 27 Nov 2002

Coulter's premise is fascinating. Few authors have addressed the long-term consequences of vaccination. Hopefully, this work will stimulate further research.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but falls short of proving the point. 19 July 2009

Vaccination, Social Violence, and Criminality: The Medical Assault on the American Brain

This is an interesting theory if only the author had focused on proving it. I have the feeling there is a connection between vaccination, social violence and criminality but I wanted evidence.

There is some helpful information here about the damage vaccinations can cause. This book uses anecdotal stories to "prove" the points but very little scientific or statistical evidence . It seemed scattered to me bringing up widely diverse points and then moving on, never really making the case on any. The author didn't even get to the social violence until page 171.

I was looking for information to help me decide whether or not to continue my boys vaccinations. This book was not helpful. I found much better books on that subject.
