For those of you used to the range of 'Haynes' manuals, this will come as a bit of a disapointment. At the moment choice is limited so this manual is pretty much it if you intend to do your own work on this popular vehicle.
Most of this book seems to have been taken from the dealers workshop manual, referance is made to many specialist tools and you are expected to have a good understanding of repair procedures. Unfortunatley the authors do not apear to have tried any of the major procedures outlined in this manual. I found myself abandoning it and working through the procedures on my own.
Full of innacuracies, such as upside down illustrations and obvious typos, at best much of this book is un-helpful and at worst its down right misleading.
The comprehensive specifications are useful, but by the time you've got through the repair you have lost all confidence that the information contained in it is accurate.
If I hadn't got oily fingerprints all over it I'd have sent it back.

Lacks a wiring diagram or any help with the arcane numbered VW relays. Equally useless for replacing dashboard central panel or steering column controls, window winder mechanism, doors, location of ID numbers etc etc, in fact everything I've looked at it for.
I bought this as it was the only manual I could find relating to my 1991 T4. It is vague and I can either work out how to do it myself or the manual fails to help and I have to ask someone who knows.
Not much use at all really. A waste of money in my case. I would give it no stars but the review system won't let me.

It's better than nothing, but not much. Other reviewers are correct about the incompleteness, typos, and lack of clarity and detail. There's little left for another reviewer to say.
On the plus side it does have torque settings (but can you be sure there are no typos in them?)
If you MUST buy this book, make sure to buy the version which is relevant to your year of Transporter. (There are at least 3 versions of the T4 book.) Then do what I did: write to Haynes and ask them to produce a better book.

Hmmmm......
I'm still having to ask my mechanic about stuff that if there was a Haynes manual, it would have given me the answer. It's okay, but not really what I need! Read more
