One of the main attractions of the VW Bus, apart from its iconic looks and rugged reliability, is the way owners take the bus to heart and into their family, and set about personalizing them through both exterior and interior design and styling. Over the years, most campers have seen extensive use and, unless you are lucky to find a complete original-condition camper, then some work will need to be done to bring the interior to the standard you want.
About the Author
David Eccles has been around VW campers since he and his wife, Cee, journeyed to India and back in 1976, travelling and living in a 1967 Canterbury Pitt. They have owned their current VW Camper, a 1966 walk-through Devon Caravette since 1978. After twenty years of family holidays, the camper is fully restored and is used for travelling to VW shows and events. David is well known for his passion for the VW Bus and is currently the editor of Volkswagen Camper and Commercial magazine. Resident - Leicestershire

If you want ideas for your own conversion or upgrade, and to see what can be done with these vehicles, this is a great source of inspiration. If on the other hand you are an anorak who just wants to look at page after page of dull 60's and 70's westfalia/devon interiors get another book. A few of the interiors featured are 'individual' to say the least but then everyone is different, which is kind of why people buy old VWs in the first place.

I expected this book to contain some practical advice for carrying out a camper van conversion. It does not and there are no diagrams showing construction details or measurements or anything else. It is contrary to what a previous reviewer states and actually is a book of boring photos of different interiors of mainly the older styles of VW campervans that may appeal only to a vw campervan anorac.. The text basically, pointlessly describes what can already be seen in the photos. I didn't see any layout plans in the whole book. I have wasted my time and money with this book.
