I almost didn't get these cars, as other reviewers had complained that there is no 'on/off' switch.... however the company must have upgraded the toys since then, because there most certainly is a switch. Its perfect because as any parent with noisy toys can appreciate, the sound/music can get on your nerves. My 18 month old daughter loves them, they are very sturdy, and move very smoothly. The toys have sound, music, and spoken words ( 'its an ambulance.. lets take the patient to the nearest hospital.'... etc.) So my little girl has learnt to say fire engine, etc. Always nice to have talking toys, as they get something out of it, instead of just annoying tunes!
In conclusion, great buy at a great price. I will be looking into other ranges in this product for sure.

I purchased this as a present for my Grandson to go with the V Tech Toot Toot Garage,I am sure he will have lots of fun with it. The V Tech toys are of a consistently good quality and provide hours of enjoyment and stimulation for young children and their Grandparents !!

The volume on these toys is pretty loud (louder than a normal speaking voice), but that can be corrected with some strategically placed celotape over the speaker (hehehe).
My main issue with them is that after you press the button (the windscreen), the siren goes off and it plays a song, which is all well and good, but then after the song ends there's a pause and the thing carries on talking. Then another pause and it starts talking again! So once your child presses a button the toys will make noise on and off for several minutes.
Besides being annoying I think it doesn't help to teach a toddler cause and effect, since some noises happen immediately after a button is pressed, but sometimes noises happen even thought it's been ages since a button was pressed. I dunno, it seems to me a bit confusing for a young toddler. Certainly my kid always looks surprised when they go quiet and then suddenly start up again.
