The VTech Storio Animated Reading System is an interactive animated storyteller full of educational activities. With 2 different play modes, the Reading System has been designed to develop confidence with reading and words . In ' Watch the Story' mode , children can read along with the narrative and press on difficult words to access the story dictionary and learn their meaning. Reading games can also be played, children can interact with the story and learn more about phonics, letters, vowels and more. Suitable for children aged between 3 to 7, each new VTech cartridge opens up a new story, words and games. The Reading System comes with a Toy Story 3 storybook cartridge included , other cartridges can be purchased separately. The VTech Reading System features a number of parent extras allowing them to check reading records and follow their child's progress. The system is compatible with both Microsoft PCs and Apple MAC computers. The VTech Storio Animated Reading System is an excellent way to aid in the development of reading and language skills.

I HAVE ALWAYS BROUGHT V-TECH GADGETS FOR MY KIDS, WELL I LIKE THEM TOO, THIS ONE IS A GIFT FOR MY YOUNGEST, SHE IS BEHIND ON HER READING AGE, SO WITH THIS SHE WILL BE ABLE TO BE MORE INDEPENDENT AT BEDTIME. EVEN THOUGH I STILL READ TO HER BEFORE SLEEP SHE ALSO LIKES TO READ ALONE. AND THIS IS WHERE THIS COMES IN, IT HIGH-LIGHTS EACH WORD AS THE NARATOR READS OUT ALOUD. SHE CAN FOLLOW THE WORDS TO THE STORY AND ALSO THIS ACTS AS A KIDS E-READER. THE V-TECH WEBSITE HAS ABOUT 20 OR SO FREE STORIES YOU CAN DOWNLOAD ONTO AN SD CARD THAT YOU POP INTO YOUR STORIO, JUST UNSCREW THE BATTERY COVER AND SLIDE IN THE SD CARD.

My five year old Granddaughter said "Its the best present I have ever had".
Her mother has to take it off her when she goes to bed.
They learn on their own with this and it makes them feel very grown-up.
Brilliant.
I hope they vastly extend the range of cartridges to include Maths etc, great scope for learning.

I bought the STORIO for my daughters 5th birthday. Got it on offer at 39.99, which I think has turned out to be value for money, but not sure I would pay more for it. It was a hit with my daughter who loved the Toy Story 3 cartridge which came with it. I was impressed with the screen quality, the graphics/movie are excellent. She is just learning to read so loves identify the words. Some of the games are still abit advanced, but at least its means she will still use out of it over the next 18months. I logged into the Storio Webpage out of interest and was surprised to find it was possible to download further stories onto an SD card, and when I logged in (early December), they were free rather than the usual £4.99, so 12 extra stories for nothing!! I have purchased her a couple of extra Storio cartridges, which are a bit pricey but do feature extra games etc. I thought it fairly well built and like the way the clear cover folds back around the back of the console when in use. I also found that a cheap netbook cover from a certain shop where all things are £1, was a perfect fit, saved spending more on the offical case/cover and does the job just as well. All in all I was happy with this purchase and would recommend for those children just learning to read. I have an older daughter (7) who found it all a bit to easy and lost interest when she played with it. But perfect for my 5 year old.
