This is an excellent Admin guide which every VMware Admin should have. I have used the VMware vSphere4 Admin instant reference and was eagerly waiting for the release of vSphere5. The book is excellent for tech designers and engineers and dosent occupy too much space in your bag. The concepts are explained very clearly, which show the indepth VMware knowledge of the authors. A must have for every VMware Admin.

Concise, knowledgable, and a great read! 2 Dec 2011
By Zach Loeber - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've worked with several of the vmware products in varied environments and cannot recommend this book enough! It covers a good amount of information about vSphere 5 in a nice compact form. This book would be a great resource for those who are just getting their feet wet with vSphere as the authors write in a very down to earth and easy to understand manner. Is is also perfect for understanding the new features and caveats that vSphere 5 has brought to the table. Each new version of vSphere and ESXi (aka vSphere Hyper-Visor) bring substantial changes which a book like this can help you to rapidly understand so you can start using them to benefit your organization or clients. This book definitely has a place on every IT Administrators bookshelf.

Great how to! 22 May 2012
By John - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
If you are new to VMware and learning this book goes great with Scott lowes book, or planning and implementing vsphere. As stated this is a HOW TO GUIDE, it takes you through setting up services and what not, vDs/vmotion/MPIO(if i recall right)/Iscsi/NFS/ect, basically all the cool features of VMware are there for you too look and see step by step how to do it. I am a VMware engineer and use this to double check myself when I am about to reconfigure something on an important cluster, great little book, and for <20bux it is worth it.

It is also a great tool when people tell you 'no that isn't how you do it', you can point to them and say 'no you do it this way'

Graphics in the Kindle edition are hard to view, it looks like they were not formatted correctly. Graphics on other Kindle books I owned are normal.
