Product Description

One of the finest modern scores we at Death Waltz towers have heard in a very long time. It's simply monsterous, a huge sounding record that references John Carpenter, Goblin, Stevlio Cipriani, late 70s prog and early 80s electronic music all the while with it's feet firmly in the present day. The minute we heard this score we knew we had to release it. 180gm orange & red wax

As you would expect from Death Waltz the packaging is superb, thick heavyweight card sleeve with accompanied poster. The vinyl is 180gm and swirled orange and red. It's cut at 45rpm too which is something DW do regularly to improve the quality of the sound.

The music is simply wonderful, full of atmosphere right from the opening track "To Keep From Falling off" with it's layers of choral voices and hypnotic refrain, which reminds me a little of the latter stages of Tubular Bells. The writers William Hutson and Jonathan Snipes are accompanied by a stellar cast including Bear McCreary. "Multiples of Seven" is dripping with atmosphere and dread and is a wonderful soundscape. My favourite track on side one, "Ignorance Of Visual Information" sounds, to me at least, like an outtake from the Marsh/Ware/Oakey classic, The Dignity Of Labour EP (yes, I am THAT old!). The final track, "Recourse To Eagles" winds down things nicely and again has a lovely soundscape vibe to it.

There are four tracks on side two, kicking off with "Moon Landing", another lush atmospheric piece with some gorgeous choral voices and some huge stabs of electric guitar. Quite stunning really. "Emotional Architecture" carries on in soundscape mode. Final track on the vinyl album is "Dies Irae" which is a nice piece of understated 80's Synthpop complete with those choral voices, vocodered vocals and shrill main synth line. Very nice.

There are seven tracks on the vinyl album but you also get a fourteen track CD which is a nice touch. Overall a really nice soundtrack and a steal at under a tenner too.

well worth buyin g- especially on vinyl for £6.00 This is a great electronic shudder-fest that will remind you of many classic tunes but equally creates a whole new world to explore.
