Product Description

Product Description

The thrilling and astounding story of Eric England, greatest long-range shooter in world history and legendary Marine scout sniper. Loaded with rare illustrations. Input from Carlos Hathcock, NRA, USMC Commandant, Sen. Zell Miller, NASCAR's Bill Elliott, and many other notables. Back by popular worldwide demand.

This book was endorsed by the USMC Commandant and Sgt. Major, the USMC Scout-Sniper Association, and the Scout-Sniper Schools of the USMC and US Army.

Each chapter is a vignette of different angles of his life, and the environmental forces that made him who he is, which brings the reader into a closeness with this amazing yet humble hero. Chapters range from mind-blowing combat experiences, to insights into gumption and superhuman skill, and even the contagious and never-dying sense of humor that hovers about this unusual man.

Several references to his Appalachian roots help bridge the gap between the hills of North Georgia and the hills of I Corps in Vietnam, and bring out the all-American man to a point of greater understanding... as in the lives of Appalachian legends like Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett, and Carlos Hathcock.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too much hero worship by the author 4 Jan 2014

I read 50% of this book before chucking it. I got fed up by the fawning butt kissing of the writer. I find it hard to believe that America lost the Vietnam war having Eric England! The folksie hill billy sayings and stories really got on my nerves. Could have been a great book. If most of England's achievements had not been repeated, the book would have a hundred pages less.

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the greats 23 Aug 2013

There are people who are good, then there are the great ones. Top falls under the second catagory. Here stands someone who stands in a group of the greatest shooters to have picked up a rifle and cast his own shadow in this group. Yet he remains humble even after rubbing elbows with these folks. Everyone has heard of Carlos Hatchcock, & Bill Elliott. If you have read many gun magazines from the seventies you know who Elmer Keith is. Here is someone who rubbed elbows with these people & remains humble. Wow, thats an impressive bunch of people. His character is what stands out the most, although his skill comes in a close second. Generations from now his name & deeds will still be spoken of on the firing line. As one shooter is quoted it's not bragging if you can back it up, I believe his scores attest to that. Diffenitley one of the greats of his generation & someone to look up to. Why is it the greats never take credit & the average lucky dog wants to bath in the limelight. Semper Fi mac.

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE GREAT MARINE & WORLD CLASS SHOOTER/SNIPER 10 Jun 2013
By Shooter - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
May you live forever in those beloved hills you love so much, Eric. This book brought back a lot of memories to a young shooter who had the great good fortune to be a USMC rifle team shooter at 2nd MAW in Cherry Point in 1964 and at Quantico in 1966! I was there watching as you cleared the 20t round . You taught us all a lesson in honesty and integrity that day. 1st Lt Bill Phillips USMC. Lifetime Master

Reading about Eric England was uplifting and very informative..The book is well written and is hard to put down..It draws comparisons between Eric's life before, during, and after his historic trip to RVN. I am better off having read this book..it is American history!
