Some pictures do not show this but the connections are via phono leads just like the ones on your tv or hifi. There are extra leads that allow connection to a switch or alarm system so it can be triggered manually or by your alarm. In normal use however the unit will detect movement and the sensitivity and area can be adjusted as can the amount of photos taken if in photo mode rather than video mode. A bypass switch is present to keep the logos off your tv screen if needed, it still records in bypass mode. It also date and time stamps the files. There is no battery and it doesnt seem to loose time when turned off so must have a capacitor inside that charges when its turned on. You can select two inputs but cannot record from both at the same time. There is a video output also. This does not record audio. Image quality on high quality setting is fair but not like video but better than a mobile phone type video. The SD card pops out and you can download the videos into your PC with an SD card reader (not supplied). Two LEDs one for power the other for detect. Playback can be done without a PC but recording stops while playback is in use. It can record without a card but not for long and it looses it when the power goes off so you really need the SD card, one is supplied (2Gb) and that is the maximum size, though you can swap them and have one for each day, etc. Not bad, in fact excellent for the price. It is also very compact and the case is aluminium which makes it quite robust. Powered from a mains adaptor, supplied.

The sd card is tricky to remove ,need long nails ,it also dose not show the time and date (only appears on tv screen )instructions are poor and available options are very basic for set up.
You can only make setting adjustments if it is plugged into a tv and also connected to the camera (not ideal)
Mine worked okay the first day only but now records when nothing is visible and sleeps when someone walks past.
Shall be returning the product.

Got this because of damage to my car parked in the driveway.Nice looking recorder but the operation manual is very unclear. At this moment in time I've got it all set up but the clock is not working, have tried everything but no luck. There's not a helpline number, email address or postal address to try and get help from, and for me that is unforgivable. You even get a guarantee to fill in,,,but where do you send it?.My advice,,,keep clear of this product
