very good as a 2d monitor everything is crystal clear.
for 3d i have run just cause 2,skyrim, lfd2, bfbc2,bf3,coh, and plenty of other games.
PROS:it performs extremely well and is a good size, the 3d works well although i cant watch anything on 3dyoutube as i think for steroscopic 3d it doesnt quite fully support it, glasses are a nice fit i have no problem and i find no problem with dizziness or eye strain. depth view in games is adjustable so you can ease your way into it which is done through software, as a monitor for 2d and 3d it is excellent. i run 3d games on one overclocked gtx580 and an overclocked i5.

CONS:in just cause 2 there is the ghosting effect when racing down the roads you can notice the white lines doubling but even in real life when you go fast the broken white lines can seem as one big one. was a pain to find the screws for the stand they were taped to the white foam in a little bag.

any questions ask. i dont know how but comment n il comment back i suppose

Well... the one I bought from this company was unfortunately faulty. The cable which makes up the component for the built-in IR transmitter was trapped and stuck in between the plastic bevel.
I definitely do not put the blame on Amazon who sold me this monitor nor would I let it put me off buying from them again! I reckon that Asus's quality control team should have inspected this product especially being so expensive. Anyway I returned the item to Amazon for a full refund and they did this quickly and the were VERY supportive during the whole process - I love Amazon.

Well anyway, during it's trip back to Amazon I went and bought another monitor from a local store (yes I prefer buying from Amazon than my local store even though it was priced the same) and I got it home and the first thing you realise when you pull it out of the box is WOW this is big... my wife's face was caught between NO THIS IS TOO BIG and Wow this is actually a very sexy looking piece of kit. I had however have two crappy monitors on my desk and these were replaced by this beast.

The only thing that was worrying my at first was the quality of the monitor in standard 2D mode after reading a bit of negative stick. Sure for £470 (what I paid) it would be a very expensive 2D monitor as there are decent 4K monitors now with better a quality display for half of the price. I read that the 27 inch PC monitor stretches out so much that the 1920x1080 resolution is stretched out and you lose quality. Well I can tell you now that this is simply NOT the case. The quality is fantastic, the brightness and colours are perfect!

Now, when you put it into 3D it's something that if like me you are not already used to... takes a lot of getting used to.

Bought the Asus VG278H as a replacement for a Samsung 26" display, pretty much for the 3D.

I was quite pleasantly surprised with the build quality, as have seen some reviews totally panning the build of the monitor.

The display is quite bright and contrasty, I haven't got around to calibrating it, but it's colours look a bit more accentuated and backlit than the Samsung. For 2D it's decent, but I prefer my old screen - maybe I'm more used to it, but the colours to my eyes look more "natural".

In 3D though the effect is quite impressive. I say "quite" as I wasn't blown away by it. It still feels like the technology is in it's infancy. You do get ghosting on moving items, also the colour reproduction of the screen seems to be tinted by the 3D glasses themselves, everything takes on a slightly greenish tinge. It's not terrible but it's certainly not as nice as 2d in 3 dimensions.

3D compatibility with the 2 titles I tried (Battlefield 3 & Assassin's Creed) with Nvidia 3D seemed spot on, and with Battlefield 3D there are some real "wow" moments of flying over terrain between buildings which really makes the most of the effect.

Having said that, do I play in 3D having bought this monitor? No. It's a nice novelty, but I can't say at the moment it has really that much use. Maybe it's the hassle of wearing the glasses, the reduced framerate, or the slightly green tinge to everything. Am still happy I bought the above, given that it supports framerates > 60hz, so everything is still super smooth.

I think 3D gaming's day will come, but for now it's more of a novelty as to what modern PCs can do.

Had this monitor for around a Month now and I have to say I am extremely impressed with the picture and colour quality.

It beats my old 3d monitor from Asus into the ground and that was not a bad monitor either.

2d wise, the images are crisp and clear, (I use srgb / standard) settings on the monitor as they seem to have the best colours and are not overly bright, in games though I switch to game mode for that extra brightness. Playing older games on this monitor due to its large size can make them blocky, but with the powerful pc behind this with antialiasing maxed out, it solves the issue on those older games.

3d games and videos however look the best I have ever seen, beating even watching a 3d film at the cinema. the picture is so clear and bright its like your not even wearing the glasses, there is a very slightly loss of light, more like a light tint, but its no issue when you compair to the old glasses. (the tv also works for blue ray players, the ps3, and xbox 360 for 3d videos and games due to the built in emmitter.)

So overall this is a 5* monitor and a very good one at that, and the stand is heavy duty, probably worth a lot on its own.
