First let me say, I love every single soup recipe in this book. They are fantastic. The salads and desserts are nice as well. But the mains section is highly disappointing.
The recipes are fine but the book is very slim and missed out on a good number of non-meat-substitute dishes in Jamaican cooking that could well have been included (which are included in other popular Jamaican and West Indian cookery books on the market today that are not strictly veggie).
But the absolute worst part of the book are the horrid photographs of the food. They are of such poor quality as to make the food look revolting. One pic actually makes the plantains on the plate look as if they are covered in grey-green mould! I have to cover the photos when cooking, as honestly they are stomach churningly bad.
Shame. This book is good, but not great... I wish it were better.
