Vans have been around for years now, and I can definitely see why. They are surprisingly comfortable - like converses only with a thicker bottom. I recommend these for all ages - they look good, feel good, and Amazon has some of the best prices (of course, this depends on size, style and colour. A great choice. Stop the hesitation. Lol. Honestly, if you are a fan of Converses, I can't see why you wouldn't like Vans. :)
