5.0 out of 5 stars Well made but slightly vulnerable Helicopter 31 Mar 2010
Durability: 4.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 4.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this model locally under the name of a Micro Twister, which is identical to the V-Max. It is a brilliant little model, which flies well, and I have found, in an even more stable fashion than the Twin Rotor Chinook, bought from the same distributor. On charging, for which I use a USB plug-in charger from my IPod, to save the batteries in the remote control, there are important lessons to learn. First, check that the throttle control on the remote is fully down, even before switching the remote control on. It is not spring loaded, so this is very important. Secondly, switch on the remote control next, before switching on the helicopter with it's tiny switch underneath. Then the helicopter has to be made ready to fly by pushing the throttle control fully forward and back. Then, on pushing it forward for a second time the helicopter will take off. If the helicopter spins in either direction, when at the hover, adjustments can be made by pulling or pushing a knurled wheel on the outside of the remote control.

Failing to follow the above sequence exactly will result in everything appearing OK including the lights on the helicopter, but the motor will not rotate the blades. This is NOT made clear in the instructions, and resulted in my returning to the shop 3 times before the penny dropped. Once you are up and away it is great fun to fly, but I mentioned that it is a little vulnerable. After maybe 20 or so flights, it had a fairly heavy collision with a wall over 6 feet from the ground. when inspected, I found that the small plastic "I" shaped bars which connect the rotor blades to the metal ended stabiliser bars had broken, and the top of the main rotor drive had one arm of the T shape broken off.

5.0 out of 5 stars V-Max Mini USB Helicopter 1 Jan 2010

Bought as a present for My 14 year old son. Previous years had been given a polystyrene model, they didn't last to long. This model made from light alloy is far stronger but still light enough to buzz around the room. Flight time is impressive considering the battery size. Charge time 20 to 30 minutes either from remote control or computer USB port, this can give a saving on batteries. Helicopter comes with a handy screwdriver and spare main rotor blades and x2 tail rotor blades. A point to note: tail rotor only operates when in the forward mode. Overall a very satisfactory fun purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Up and Away 2 Jun 2010

This is a really great little toy.
The first one to arrive was faulty and so went back for an exchange. The little devil just kept spinning around and the trim adjustment didn't work.
The replacement is just so much fun though. It is a little tricky to get used to but very rewarding when you can fly from A to B and hopefully back again. I have given the copter one or two rough landings but so far no damage has been done so it does seem quite durable.
The charge only lasts about five minutes but recharge takes about 20 mins. This is fine as it gives me enough time to settle my nerves and calm the dog before taking to the air again.
All in all this is a great value model. I say model as it is probably best treated as one rather than a toy that will be abused. It is very rewarding when a good flight is completed and frustrating when the charge runs low and I have to put it away for charging. Get yourself one today.

I was able to buy two for a little more than the price of one from a local big name store and they are very good quality. They only stay charged for a short time (between 15 and 20 minutes) but its the same for any other model and you have to accept it as part of the package. My kids love them. Great value.
