About the Author
Barry Jones left the RAF to become an artist for the Inter Services Aircraft Recognition Journal folled by five years with Flight magazine and six years in the Technical Publication Dept at Vickers Armstrong. He is a regular contributor to Aeroplane Monthly. His previous books for Crowood include De Havilland Twin Booms [2004] and British Experimental Turbojet [2006]. Resident - Warwickshire

I found the book to be very informative and exactly what I was searching for. Having been with all 3 whilst in the RAF.
I guarded the V bombers at RAF Finningley with my dog in my National Service days. I then worked for the miltary as a civilian for 45 years and again was with the Vulcans at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus for 6 years.
A good purchase for those wanting precise information.

A very good description of the development of all the various marks of the three V-bombers together with a description of the fourth bomber, the Sperrin that was developed makes this a book that anyone with an interest in the technical side of the V-bombers would be happy tro have on their bookshelf. Operational matters are generally only covered in enough detail to provide a timeline of the Bombers' use by the Royal Air Force. There are some mistakes on dates for some units and identification of some of the aircraft models. Unfortunately, it would appear that authors of some subsequent V force books have used this book as an unimpeachable reference source and as a consequence have repeated this mistakes. I purchased this book some time ago and had hoped for an accurate account of the Victor but sorry to say this is compiled by an author that does not know his aircraft in detail and it is basically a "Cut and Paste" job> I deal in Facts not Fiction. A waste if good money as far as I am concerned
