I bought this mortar & pestle after I read about it in BBC Olive last month. It looked really appealing and I decided to give it a go.I have been very pleased with the results so far. I've used it for grinding down whole allspices for seasoning fish and meat, also for crushing herbs for pasta.I have not used it for anything else, yet, but will try very soon. It's amazingly fast, attractive on the kitchen counter and comfortable to use.It's also dishwasher safe, so I hope it won't retain colour of the allspice, likes others do.I would say,that if you like to use fresh spices and herbs in your cooking, then this mortar & pestle set is a must.

I've just bought a recipe book for slow cooker curries, and the Smash! Pestle and Mortar is an essential item of kit for quickly reducing the most stubborn peppercorns to the exact consistency required with a minimum of effort - and it's comfortable to use. Highly recommended.

I asked for this for Christmas to make up spice pastes. Having used it a couple of times now I have found it to be easy to use, clean and makes a great job of crushing awkward items such as peppercorns. A brilliant piece of design and at a reasonable price.

Too fragile
