I was given this book as a present 2 days ago as I am a cat lover and since reading it I was really surprised to see the previous posters comments. I and also my friend found the pictures quite shocking in that in most pictures and I would say in around 21 pictures fear has been induced to get the pictures. No, they are not inquisitiveness stances, ears that are back and wide frightened eyes, mouth open each only say one thing in a cats language. It is not an animal lovers book. The text is excellent but when I saw that the photographer was Japanese I realised that some cultures see animal welfare differently. The text by Stuart and Linda McFarlane is excellent. Don't buy this book if you are really concerned about animal welfare.
