Only does not get 5 stars because the book is translated and I would guess by a very good but not English native speaker. So it reads a bit awkwardly and some of the grammar is wonky. Otherwise very informative.

Best book out there for using AX 2012 19 May 2014
By DNAunion - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Among books available for AX 2012 R2 (or the original version of this book for pre-R2), there is nothing that comes close to touching this one from a usage perspective.

This book does lack info on many parts (Fixed Assets, Positive Pay, etc.), but no one should expect a single book to cover all of AX 2012 R2. What this book does cover - and that's a lot - it covers well. And again, no other book out there comes close.
So Far, So Good 22 Oct. 2013
By Mush - Published on Amazon.com

I have not read very much of this book yet, but what I have read so far is helpful. The author clearly has a wealth of experience from which to draw and instruct. I would like to avoid giving a rating at this time since it is premature for me to express an opinion, but Amazon does not appear to allow that.

My focus is on the financials section. There is a lot of good content here. I would like to find a book simply on AX financials implementation, and this book is not really geared towards that. That is good and bad since it is broader than my immediate need, but it will come in handy when I need to branch out in to other topics. Perhaps I should buy the book on Sure Step implementations.

One thing I am curious about is how the author chose to organize the subjects. When you start reading the financials section, he says financials form the foundation of any implementation, yet the financials subject does not appear in the book until #8 on the table of contents. This is another example of why this book is about using AX and not as much implementing it.

One thing that I don't understand and no one seems to explain in any literature (including this book) or blogs I've read so far is how changes are made in a development environment, tested in a test environment, and then implemented in production. Do you have to make the same change everywhere and the three environments are not connected, or, is it like other ERPs in which a change is made (and recorded) in development, and then scripts are run that apply your recorded changes to the test and production environment? Note that I am new to AX and transitioning from SAP. I do not have access to Microsoft documentation for AX customers, VARs or consultants.

Overall, this book is good so far and worth the money. It's a pity the author may not profit from it.

Best Book on Dynamics AX; Helpful Resource for Learning 27 Dec. 2014
By Pundit - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This book really is the best book on Microsoft Dynamics AX from a functional perspective. Concise and relevant, this book does reward a careful reading. Dynamics AX is a powerful product but there is a learning curve to climb with it. This book helps. I have used both an earlier version and this new version updated for Version R2. Like a one year old exploring shelves and cabinets and toys, one of the best ways to learn AX software is to explore and experiment. The more you learn about Dynamics AX, the easier it becomes to gain the next layer of understanding. Read this book, then set it aside and test our what you are learning in the DAX software. There are a variety of sources for learning about Dynamics AX 2012. I recommend that you include this book as one of your learning resources. It will fill in gaps in your understanding and help you to have a series of "Aha moments". The author appears to originate from central Europe but so did Axapta/AX. This book is well organized and well written. It seems to do a great job at putting information that is more important ahead of information that is less important. It is recommended that you read and re-read this book even after you have learned much about AX because it will help to make your understanding to be more complete.
