Excellent "Learn By Video" Training Course 10 Sept. 2011

This is my second "Learn By Video" DVD Photoshop training course and for someone who wants to learn more about Layers and layer masks this is an excellent product. I am one of those who learns quite quickly by a visual and hands on approach to Photoshop teaching. Books are fine for some people to learn by, but I use them mainly for quick reference rather than learning from them. Tim Grey is an excellent teacher in this video and his approach to teaching is at a moderate pace and not the hectic rushed pace of a Deke McClelland training video. So I highly recommend this video training course for the beginner and intermediate Photoshop CS5 user.
excellent tutorials 3 Nov. 2011

I just bought this video series, and another by the same company -- for Photoshop. These tutorials can be viewed all at once, project by project, or as a reference or review. They are conveniently chaptered. There are different ways to view these videos. Full-screen is one.

I previously learned with the earlier version of this company's Photoshop video/book combo. I learned so much! And, it got my creative juices flowing. Especially with specifics like using masks to their advantages, one can design digitally without the overuse of plug-ins or filters.

Watch out Lynda! These videos are inexpensive and comprehensive! You don't have to pay a monthly fee to do videos. Unless you really peruse all Lynda has to offer, it just isn't as good a deal as buying one or two of these videos for a bout the price of 3 months of Lynda.
Timeless and important 27 April 2012

Layer masking has got to be the most important process to learn and utilize when it comes to image processing. Tim Grey knows his stuff and this instructional video will make sure you know your stuff. Important are the types of masks, painting based, selection based and gradient, and when to use them to obtain the flexibility in compositing and localized (targeted) adjustments for maximizing your photoshop workflow. If you are using photoshop now, and not taking advantage of layer masking, you aren't getting the most of your software. This video is a fine investment...
You Get More than you Pay 5 Feb. 2014

I have been working with Photoshop for a long time … very difficult, if not impossible, to get to the end of this software… endless possibilities… In this video, Tim Gray performs spectacularly well. Strictly to the point, describes layer mask application very well. A must for anyone, even for those who already understand this technique well.

This is an easy to follow video. I have used photoshop for a long time but there is so much to know that I keep learning new tricks. I loaned it to a friend who ended up buying her own copy. I have just ordered another lesson on camera raw.
