From Amazon.co.uk

A bizarre Japanese animated romantic sci-fi adventure, 1986's Always My Darling was the last of half a dozen spin-off movies from the hugely popular Japanese comic book/television series Urusei Yatsura. It concerns the misadventures of Ataru Morobishi, teenage goof-off and skirt chaser, who is captured by munchkins in the employ of Lupica, Royal Princess of the Universe. He is frogmarched on board the Princess' UFO, where he develops an infatuation with her. She, however, only requires him because, as the most lecherous person in the Universe, he is the only person who can lead her to the Holy Planet where is stored an ultimate love potion which will enable her to make a match of her choosing. Atura, meanwhile, is pursued/protected by the gorgeous, bikini-clad superheroine Lum, who, mysteriously, is besotted with the horny little twerp. A series of fantastic (or excruciating) twist and turns ensue.

Those unfamiliar with the Urusei Yatsura series which ran between 1981 and 1986 are advised not to make their opening acquaintance with Always My Darling, the last and least of the series. With its doe-eyed, surreal, cosmic jumble of characters, plot non-sequiturs and animatory quirks, Urusei Yatsura is, in any case, like braised dog, a distinctly acquired and non-Western taste.--David Stubbs

4.0 out of 5 stars Great film! 13 May 2002
Format:DVD
The third film of a great series, Remember My Love is the usual madness you would expect from Urusei Yatsura.
The film involves Ataru getting turned into a pink hippopotamus (yes, you heard right) and then staying that way for most of the film.
What makes this good though is that it really does develop the characters from the first two films. The feelings of Ataru and Lum are explored in depth and although this does mean less humour then before, you do feel that you are watching a film and not just an extension of an episode of the series.
Superior to the first film (Only You) but not quite up to the standard of the excellent second film Beautiful Dreamer. BUT DO NOT LET THIS PUT YOU OFF! Remember My Love is a great film that demands repeated viewings and the lack of the usual madness benefits it more then what you think. An excellent approach to a classic series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Absolute Japanese Humor 20 Feb 2002
Format:DVD
This is a good and polished movie based on one of Japan's longest running and most appreciated TV series, Urusei Yatura ("Those Obnoxious Aliens"). Although it is a cartoon, and might be appreciated by children, it really appeals to a more adult audience. The closest definition of it would be 'an absurd romatic comedy', as it deals with a cast of highschool characters whose actions revolve around two persons - the womanizer misfit Ataru Moroboshi and his self-pronounced wife, the alien girl Lum, whose most notable expression of her love for him is blasting him with electricity every five minutes or so.
The movie (as many of the TV episodes) deals with the conflicts between Ataru, Lum, and his schoolmates. All the highschool guys are infatuated with Lum and hate Ataru's guts, his relationship to his parents seems like a Freudian nightmare, and his attempts to "get to know" as many girls as possible result again and again in excessive violence directed at his poor misunderstood ego. Lum loves him no matter how lecherous his escapades, and somewhere inside Ataru struggles between his dreams of "the ultimate harem" and suppressing his love for Lum.
There are more puns and funny situations in this comedy of (t)errors than you can count on twenty hands and it has a great (although dated) J-pop soundtrack. The fun is enhanced if you're already acquainted with the characters from the TV series, but even if you're not, this wacky cartoon filled with Japanese wacky humour invites you to watch it again and again. This is part one (six in all) in the movie series and is still the most fresh. The sequels are declining from part 3 on to a terrible needless part 6.

3.0 out of 5 stars The most confusing film ever 5 Nov 2003
Format:DVD
I'm a big fan of Urusei Yatsura and Rumiko Takahashi work in general, but boy was this film confusing. The art, voice acting and everything else was brilliant but the storyline was very confused, and lacked continuity. Dream sequences were constantly jumped into with no explanation - however all I say is keep watching till the end, and everything will be explained. Well if you adore the lecherous Ataru and the lovely Lum, this is definetly a film to buy. I enjoyed it but I think I'll have to watch it a few times to get it...

Well , this was the very first Urusei Yatsura tape I ever saw , and I enjoyed it ... I was confused at who all the characters were , but a little internetting revealed the answers ... anyway . The main thing that's different from this movie to the other UY movies (well , from what I've seen) is that this movie doesn't have an awful lot of humor in it ... I mean , the ending was your usual Urusei Yatsura chaos , and it made me laugh muchly as always , but most of it was Ataru wondering where Lum was , and Lum wondering how she could get back to Ataru .. it was still entertaining though , and I could think of worse ways to spend an hour and a half . And the music !! I LOVE the music !! The OP and the ED were the only vocal peices in it , but they were in english , and very good !! Remember My Love (ED) was a little mushy , but I like it a lot . And as for Born to be Free ... Something Fun To Do While Watching This Video : See how many of the characters (other than Lum and Ataru) you can spot during the opening crowd sequence !!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Final Chapter - AOK! 4 Jan 2002
Format:VHS Tape
The final chapter of Urusei Yatsura may not actually be the final chapter, but it is a wholly enjoyable experience for all.
The movie's plot places Ataru's true feelings for Lum on the line when Ataru is forced to play another game of tag to save the world from certain doom (again, it's his fault), and all he has to do to make the game is easier, is tell Lum he loves her. Simple, right? But Ataru being Ataru, he refuses to say it. (We wouldn't have much of a movie if he did, wouldn't we?)
A sweet movie that plays out Urusei Yatsura's success to the fullest, this movie is a great choice for diehard fans of UY, or even for people wanting to get into it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very , VERY surreal !! 29 Dec 2000
Format:VHS Tape
Now , you might have heard that this movie is very surreal ; in that , you'd be right . Some people also list this as being the worst UY movie .. definetly NOT right !! I loved every moment of it , but beleive me , you have to keep track of what's going on .. or you could just sit back and think "ahh well , I'll enjoy it anyway" .. both are fun :) ... it's fun to come up with theories of what exactly it's about , but even without seeing the bigger picture , it is a very , VERY good movie . The animation is vurrah vurrah good (Mendou-sama looked especially cute in it :) , the music is as spiffy as ever (everyone must listen to Melancholy no Kiseki , the ED !!) , and the story was very interesting , even if it didn't capture the same fun charm as , say , UY movie 1 did .. that's the one thing . Though the movie is fun , it's not fun in a way that'll have you rolling on the ground crying with laughter .. it's fun to see our favorite Urusei Yatsura characters doing something remotly serious for once , it's fun to see Mendou at his empire-commanding greatest (and a chance to see the Mizunokouji characters , seeing as Animego are being SLOW at releasing the TV series , and heck knows if they're even being released here) , it's fun to see the cast trying to make their movie for the school project ... but there's nothing really "HA HA HA HA HAAAAH !! OH I'M GONNA GET A STITCH !!" in here ... but that's not a bad thing !! Sometimes , serious is good , y'know ?? I think that Shinobou put it best after having her freaky dream in Mendou's car : " Ohhh , I just don't know what's going on anymore !! "
Oh yes , I loved this movie .. and so will most other UY fans .. but if you've never seen UY before , you're going to be very .. VERY .. confused .. :)
