Truly fabulous! 29 Oct 2001

When cooking Italian cuisine most people automatically think pizza, pasta and then the obvious, "Tiramisu" for desert.

Ursula changes this mind set in her book "Italian cakes and deserts"! She brings a totally fresh look at Italian cooking generally but this specifically looks at the non-savoury varieties. "Italian cakes and deserts" has provided me with a "new start" and I believe can teach not only novice chefs like myself but also the more experienced wizards of the kitchen.

This new book has inspired me and brings with it great original ideas and twists on the traditional .

This is a super paperback book - very clearly laid out recipes - all of which you would want to try. There is a separate colour page section with photos of the cakes and desserts. Although I usually like glossy cookbooks - and this isn't - it's definitely one I shall be using a lot.

Lots of delicious, authentic recipes, including; panforte, coffee & cinnamon ice cream, zabaglione, panettone, chocolate mousse with brandy soaked biscuits etc.
Most of the recipes are simple to make and use a basic, standard set of ingredients.
There are lots of good recipes for fresh seasonal fruit too.
