Architecture for dummies is not near as good as this compendium of the broad subject of Urban Planning. This one can be really useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good introductory book 10 Sep 2012
By Florida Family - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I admit that I purchased this book for its cover. As a professional city planner, with 25+ years experience, I thought it would make an interesting talking point lying around in my office! However, upon reading through it, I was impressed by the range of topics that were included, and especially how clearly some concepts were defined. This would be a great book for a new Planning Commissioner or someone thinking about a career in Urban Planning. It is concise and well written.

It is written in clear prose, comprehensive in nature and a good reference to have close at hand for discussions with the public. The language is simple but does not talk down to the reader, it is full of references and useful internet links.
