5.0 out of 5 stars All-rounded Urban Design Excerpts 23 Sep 2007
This is definitely one of those books every built environment professional should have stashed in his/her bookshelf. This book is a collection of articles on the built environment from actual books ranging from general urban design views to specific design and planning approaches.

It is a good reference regardless of which specific profession you are in within the discipline. I have used many article many tims which give you a good concise overview rather than having to go to the actual publication and read the entire book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Every Urban Design student should read this! 29 Oct 2010
A great time saver and a good all round buy - highly recommended especially for those with a casual interest or a student of the subject. Easy to delve in to research or read about a particular topic.

Only drawback for a UK student is that it has a very American perspective as a result of its authors - take that with a pinch though as it still has the same clarity of thought.

Very informative with some good excerpts from experts in their field. I would have liked some more diagrams and pictures of projects to actually see the implications in built form, of the different approaches adopted. All in all a good textbook which was readable and contained a lot of information.
