I was shocked to see this book unrated, I spent a long time choosing it and paying full price in Waterstones! Its well worth buying, do understand that this book is all about hardware ( and some on bios etc)
I dont often write reviews but was so impressed with this book that I decided to make an exception. I've spent many many hours (100's!) tinkering with, mending and upgrading my pcs but had I bought this book sooner I would probably have saved myself a lot of time. Previously I had managed by trial and error methods without major mishap, then a major disk failure and other problems led me to buy this book... Im really glad it did, it paid for itself in one session and I now use it all the time. The style is very clear, easy to understand even for non technical people ( like me) yet provides excellent detail - truly informative. It provides the answers to all sorts of unanswered hardware questions. For me when my pc is not working if its software, its reloads, patches and forums but if its the hardware (and often it is) things get harder- this book reallty fills that gap and will have a long useful life, whether upgrading repairing or building.
