Product Description

CD Description

Special Limited Deluxe Collector s Edition / Fully Remastered Sound shaped from 24 BIT digital technology/ 16 page full colour booklet 4,000 word essay, enhanced artwork, memorabilia, rare photos and involvement from the band. Originally released in 1980, LeRoux s Up album is regarded as one of the cornerstones of pomp rock. Embellished with flamboyant keyboards but utilising traditional hard rock as its backbone, their style accommodated complex arrangements, melodic guitar work and impressive vocals from Jeff Pollard. Sandwiched between leading contenders of the day such as Toto, Trillion, Kansas and Starcastle the band attracted a fevered response from not only long term fans but also casual observers. Formed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, LeRoux had previously cut two albums in a rural rock style before switching allegiance to their firebrand version of pomp rock. Produced by feted session musician Jai Winding (Jackson Browne, Boz Scaggs), the Up album exploded out of the starting gate to huge approval by those that took notice. Although sales may have been somewhat limited, their influence was persuasive and powerful, especially in Europe where Up was hailed as a solid gold masterpiece by connoisseurs of the genre. Stuffed to the brim with astonishing tracks including Let Me Be Your Fantasy , Get It Right The First Time , Mystery and the truly impressive Roll Away The Stone , the album oozes both class and control, delivering maximum melody at every available opportunity. The sound is big, bold and crystal clear propelling the contents to the stars and beyond.

You must give this band a try. 11 Dec 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
If you haven't heard Lousiana's LeRoux, you have missed something special. Though there first two albums (Lousiana's LeRoux and Keep the Fire Burning) are probably the best this band has made, this album is no slouch. The band made their mark as a fusion of rock, country, and New Orleans style jazz. However, this album leans to a more mainstream rock sound. It is a pity that Capital records did little to promote this band. Every person I've introduced their music to has instantly fallen in love with it... you will too.

Look for other CDs that are available which include imports of Lousiana's LeRoux (1st album), Last Safe Place, and Bayou Degradable (Greatest Hits). The band has a web site with more info on their music and sample files of their music.

OK, so they dropped the "Louisiana's" from their name... 19 Feb 2001

Made in EU in 2000, Serial# ZCRCD-54, Playing Time 36:57

This is the band's 3rd album, originally released back in 1980. Even though there has been no change in personnel, the musical orientation has changed towards a "rockier" sound, not as "souhern" and soft as before, perhaps to appeal to a broadier and radio-listening audience.

Still, it's a nice-sounding album, clearly demonstrating the penmanship of Pollard and Roddy. The arrangements have a nice polish, catchy melodies. The booklet includes lyrics to all the songs.

Somewhat of a departure from their "roots", and perhaps why they dropped the Louisiana reference from their name. If you have their "best of" cd, tracks 9 to 11 are from "Up", and a representative selection of what you'll find across this entire disc.
