FEATURING 4 BONUS LIVE TRACKS! Unvarnished, the first Joan Jett and the Blackhearts studio record in more than seven years, breaks new lyrical ground for Jett while remaining true to the veracious sound that the pioneering rocker is known for. The album's stellar collabora- tors include Blackheart band members Dougie Needles, Tommy Price, Jett's longtime songwriting partner / producer Kenny Laguna and more. "Soulmates To Strangers" was written with Laura Jane Grace of Against Me!, with whom Jett first became acquainted during Warped Tour 2006. Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) co-wrote the single "Any Weather." Amazingly, the track features just two musicians, with Jett on vocals and guitar and Grohl playing every other instrument. Among the more lighthearted commentaries is "TMI," a medi- tation on one of today's more deplorable trends: over-sharing. It concerns "everyone throwing every little detail out there," Jett says, and is both cautionary and observational on this new reality. Unvarnished is inspired, as always, by her over-riding philosophy: Rock'n'roll is about "a certain integrity. . . just being true to your own self."
