Product Description

A sequel to "Whitney, My Love", which won the "Romantic Times" Award for Best New Historical Novel. Sheridan Bromleigh is on her way from America, chaperoning the spoilt heiress Charise Lancaster, who is to marry Lord Burleton. But pea-brained Charise elopes with a man she meets on board ship.

From the Back Cover

Sheridan Bromleigh had spent most of her early life as a happy vagabond with her unruly American father and his vagrant friends. Then, given over to the care of a strict maiden aunt, she was taught to be a lady - poor but genteel - and finally a teacher. When she was hired to act as chaperone to a pretty but spoilt heiress travelling to England to join an aristocratic fiance, Sheridan was delighted. Now, at last, she could visit her family's country. But somehow everything went wrong.

For Miss Charise Lancaster, not over-gifted with intelligence, eloped with a stranger before she could meet her suitor. And Sheridan was left with the horrid task of telling Lord Burleton she had somehow misplaced his bride. As she gazed at the tall, confident man before her, her courage failed. She was doubly shocked when she heard his news. Lord Burleton, a drunkard and a wastrel, had been killed the night before. At which point fate took over. Sheridan was knocked unconscious on the quayside, and recovered to find herself in the handsome stranger's care, not knowing who she was.

It was to be the beginning of a dazzling, witty, dramatic, and romantic sequence of events in which every possible confusion was to take place. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

First Sentence
Propped upon a mountain of satin pillows amid rumpled bed linens, Helene Devernay surveyed his bronzed, muscular torso with an appreciative smile as Stephen David Elliott Westmoreland, Earl of Langford, Baron of Ellingwood, Fifth Viscount Hargrove, Viscount Ashbourne, shrugged into the frilled shirt he'd tossed over the foot of the bed last night. Read the first page

"Until You" is a beautifully written sequel to "Whitney my Love".I loved the first book and I found the second one nearly as good as well. The plot is interesting and captures the reader's attention from the beginning. The leading female character is Sheridan Bromley a young American woman who travels to England chaperoning an heiress to meet her fiance. Unfortunately Miss Charise Lancaster is a flirty and spoilt chit and she escapes with a different suitor leaving Sheridan to arrive in England alone. She thinks the tall and handsome stranger is Lord Burleton the jilted fiance and she tries to explain what happened. At that moment something hits her head in the docks and she loses consciousness. She awakens in a beautiful room finding the same handsome man watching her and she realises she doesn't remember anything from her previous life. And then the story beggins with lots of misunderstandings, fun and emotional overtunes. The handsome lord is Stephen Westmoreland, brother of Clayton the Duke of Claymore and Whitney's brother-in-law. He has his own problems to sort out and he doesn't need an American chit in the middle of it. He feels guilty and he tries to help Sherry to get back her memory and hopefully disappear from his life.. In the meantime the whole Westmoreland family arrives and tries to get Stephen marry Sherry. The way this fully developed and very alive and very reluctant couple finds the way to each other's heart is wonderful. The reader can follow their thinking and the awakening of their love. Sherry is a beautiful character. She is clever, good and very generous. Also she is very proud and she doesn't want to be a burden on anyone.Stephen is a typical male.
He is stubborn, proud, very reluctant to get married and he thinks he is being deceived. The way to happiness is not easy and Sherry and Stephen must go through lots of heartache and misunderstandings. Judith McNaught is a wonderful storyteller and she knows her characters very well.
UNTIL YOU is a wonderful read and the love story very real and human. Sherry and Stephen are both very likeable characters and you keep your fingers crossed for them all the time. The secondary characters are real persons as well and the reappearence of many people from "Whitney my Love" gives this novel a familiar touch.
Ms McNaught is a talented author who knows her characters and she is well aware of life in Regency England. It's very easy to recommend this book to all historical romance readers.

Judith McNaught had a formidable task to improve upon Whitney My Love. However, she clearly succeeds with Until You. Ms McNaught leads the reader along a beautiful tale reintroducing old friends and presenting a delightful heroine whom one cannot help but love. Sheridan Bromley is a character any woman can identify with, demonstrating love, compassion, and of course a distinctive stubborn streak. Naturally, Ms McNaught provides Sheridan with an equally delighful hero in the guise of Stephen, an Earl and brother to the Duke of Claymore whom we first met in Whitney My Love.

Ms McNaught is one of the best romance writers currently in print. It is rare to be able to speak of a writer without one 'bad' book to their name. All of Ms McNaught's contributions have been exceptional, both historical and modern. Her next book "Waters Edge" is eagerly awaited, and perhaps the only criticism to be voiced is that she is not a prolific enough writer to keep up with her readers thirst for her wonderful stories!

This was the first I reed, then I red it twice, and then three times. This was my first love. It's amazing how and what you can feel by reeding this book, I believe that I even blush when Sheridan blushes. And in the end that feeling never ends. Just a tip: try to read this book while you hear the spanish voice of Enrique Iglesias and you'll let me know. I just have to thak Judith for the hours a spent reading her books, and if the sentence "choose an author as you choose a friend" has it meaning, Judith you're my best friend. Thanks for beeing there.
