Product Description

“An Unmistakable Rogue brings to mind the best of Teresa Medeiros or Loretta Chase. Funny ... Passionate ... exquisitely lyrical....” —Eloisa James

UNTAMABLE ROGUE, Rogues Club, Book Four

Ashford Blackburne, Fifth Earl of Blackburne, does not care where he marries and plants his seed, so long as he does both before Christmas when his tyrannical grandfather’s archaic ultimatum runs out. Jilted, drunk, and challenged to a high-stakes poker game, Ash loses the game, but wins the consolation prize: a guttersnipe bride and a wedding at gunpoint. For her part, Larkin McAdams has loved Ashford Blackburne since she was a child. She’ll make him a good wife. She does not need much—a cot, a warm blanket ... a monthly bath.

Review Quotes for Untamable Rogue, Book Four

“Wow! A CHRISTMAS BABY is, quite simply, terrific...” Debbie Jett, Romance Reader at Heart

“OMG! This story could not possibly have been any better! I could not stop myself from reading AT ALL. I read the entire thing in a single day. Yes, it is THAT good. Not to be missed! BRAVA!” Detra Fitch, HUNTRESS REVIEWS

“Annette Blair is a master artist in the world of romantic fiction. A strong plot provides the canvas for her compelling characters. Vivid settings and engaging minor characters beautifully augment the portrait. Fascinating subplots add depth. Spicy sexual encounters supply bold strokes, which are contrasted by one of the blackest dark moments ever painted with words. A romantic masterpiece.” —MyShelf.com

“A charming, witty story that will fill your heart with joy. From the moment I read Annette Blair’s An Unmistakable Rogue, I knew she had talent. But this book proves she has the ability to make her star shine... A brilliant piece of work... A keeper!” —Historical Romance Club

“The fourth “Rogue” is truly a delight. I highly recommend this clever, heartwarming, and most excellent story.” —Betty Cox, Reader To Reader

“A CHRISTMAS BABY gets my vote for one of the most different, highly sensual and entertaining Regency historicals of the season ... The greatest pleasure is Annette Blair’s unique, wonderful voice that makes each sentence an absolute delight. Very highly recommended!” —Debora Hosey, Romance Readers Connection

“A CHRISTMAS BABY had me laughing out loud. Larkin is much like Eliza Doolittle from My Fair Lady. She is bold, feisty, longs to be educated ... and watching her transformation is delightful. I have heard raves over Annette Blair’s writing, but this is my first experience. I am thrilled to have found her.” —Tracy, Roundtable Reviews

“A Christmas Baby never falters. This reader finished it in one sitting. There are quite a few erotic scenes smoothly incorporated within the storyline. For those who enjoy a sensual and tender historical love story, this one fits the bill.” —Fallen Angel Reviews

3.0 out of 5 stars A STRANGE ONE 19 Mar 2012

I would actually like to give this one 3.5* as at times it was more than ok, some times I did like it but I don't think I ever came close to loving it, although I wanted to. Especially at the beginning, I thought it held real promise and some of the writing and humor early on did make me smile or chuckle out loud. But it just felt like it could have been written by two different authors.

'opened his mouth like a fretful fish', 'twice-jilted and thrice as furious', 'scandalbroth', "The Pickled Pigsty", and 'popinjay' probably all early on, I loved and were what held so much promise for me but all too soon I became so bored I nearly gave up. I decided to continue but although it got better and no longer threatened to kill me from sheer boredom it never reached its potential.

The side of the story that I never took to and/or felt like it had been written by someone else seemed immature at times. Why oh why did Lark have to be so aggressive when she was supposed to have such deep feelings for Ashley and which she'd harbored for oh sooo long! I know we're taking fiction here but the violent acts, and these didn't offend me in any way but were just tedious. I got absolutely fed up of Lark running away all the time. I couldn't see why Ashley was considered such a 'rogue' but in fairness this was book four of the series so maybe I would have needed to read one or more of these to build up to this point??

Some of the love scenes were beautiful others at times extremely cringe-worthy! 'nipple-flick' - oh dear, just doesn't work for me.

As I say in this header - a strange one for me, two different writing styles in one book. Maybe I'd have to read more by this author, possibly more up to date writing as this one is an old reprint. However, as this one was at the time of my download, it would probably have to be free for me to give this author another chance as I didn't enjoy this book enough to have paid for it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Almost terrible 10 Oct 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This was marginally better than the other book in the series - Undeniable rogue. The characters were marginally more appealing, I quite liked them. However, the writing is still woolly, boring and the plots are just not there. It is so shallow in comparison to other writers in this genre. The author really really needs to go away and read the entire catalogue of an author like Lisa Kleypas and take serious notes. Then try again. I paid for this one and it wasn;t worth it. Dreadful stuff. Even the sex scenes were boring. Not at all exciting.
