Review

`An amazing, enlightening read' --Waterstones Books Quarterly

Review

"'Richard Grinker's excellent book paints a unique biographical picture of his child's experience, conveys deep parental concern, and reminds us of the unmet needs of such children.' Simon Baron-Cohen, Director of the Autism Centre at Cambridge University 'A wise and compassionate book. Grinker's research is as wide-ranging as it is open-minded, bringing together the precision of social science and the artistry of memoir.' Andrew Solomon, author The Noonday Demon"

A fascinating look into the controversy surrounding the so-called "Autism Epidemic". A very measured,
intellectual response with the added dimension of being written by someone with a child with ASD.
Highly recommended reading if you are interested in Autism.

A must for anyone who wants to understand the autistic spectrum from cross cultural perspectives. As a parent of Twins with Aspergers, and having a masters in Anthropology, it is the first book about the condition that I've read that speaks to me in a language I really can relate to. A source of inspiration and hope, this book reminds the hard pressed parent of autistic children that despite the difficulties, we are also very privileged in being able to learn so much from them.
