As a relative newcomer to the "Jesus Culture" thing. Maybe I'm not as qualified to give as accurate review as some of the others on here. But I became aware of them only a few months ago when I heard their song "Holy" on a worship compilation playlist on the internet. And I was immediately taken by the deep, soulful voice of the lead female singer. I thought this girl has something! A presence and intensity. I had to be curious and look a little further to discover that they have produced a huge body of work, comparable to Hillsong and Vineyard of which, I also like. So why haven't we heard of them in the Christian field??
Their idea of worship concerts or "presentations" seem to be what they do best.
In this latest one "Unstoppable Love" their music seems to have all grown up!. Less Rock n' Roll, more Broadway Musical. And I have to say it's excellent music!. Chris Quilaila and Kim "the voice" Walker-Smith head the vocals. And what a voice she has!. Right up there with the greats!!. She could quite easily sing power ballads or musicals (If she already hasn't).
This is not going to be to everybodies taste. Some people are going to say that this is just pure entertainment and takes the focus away from worshiping the Almighty, but I think, leave that up to the individual.
It's different, quirky and musically very good - Enjoy!!!
