Her best CD 13 July 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
If you are familiar with Ms Miles' work, you will love this CD. If you are a first time listener, this is the one to buy. The music and the lyrics are sad, wistful, longing, hopeful and yet so subtle. The music hits you like a gentle breeze, but the lyrics live in your mind like a forceful wind. I LOVE THIS CD.
Track 8..."those who love moonlight across a bed/who question every word thats said" This song is for me, it is for you, it is truly a great great song. Lynn Miles should be one of the most popular song writer/singers out there, but I don't believe she cares about popularity. She just sings her heart out.
I thank her for this collection of songs. Simply lovely.

She gives voice to the human heart 11 July 2002
By John C. Bergeron - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Like only a few of her contemporaries (Lucinda Williams, Jann Arden and Jackson Browne come quickly to mind), Canadian Lynn Miles has the rare gift of being able to write songs that put into beautiful words the feelings of anyone who has been in love. Songs like "I'm the Moon," "When Did the World" and "Surrender Dorothy" (a nod to Judy Garland), beautifully, intelligently articulate all that the human heart would say if given a voice. Miles uses images and sounds we have all seen and heard as a means of conveying feelings we have all felt "...I'm calling you now/I'm as sad as a train/can you hear me calling/through the cold and the rain?" Still, as sad as most of these songs truly are, what is just as undeniably woven into every bar and lyric is a courage and resiliency that keeps us listening, hoping, even believing that perfect love could be in the next verse or song. And even if it isn't, we know the journey is worth taking. But don't leave this review thinking that "Unravel" is just a series of sad ballads. There's plenty of energy and power in the performances, hers and those of the wonderful band she's assembled, to keep you riveted. Like her previous two releases, Unravel is a Lover's Journey, performed by one of the most talented singer-songwriters working today. Sadly, her gifts continue, for the most part, to fly beneath the radar. Do not pass up an opportunity to hear one of the best; buy this CD, play it, share it. It has heart, energy, passion. They may be hers, but throughout, you'll find yourself time and again mistaking them for your own.

Why isn't this woman a star???? 9 Dec 2002
By Michael J Edelman - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I first saw Lynn back in '96, I think, in a music series a friend was promoting. We were all absolutely knocked out by her brilliant, dark lyrics, beautiful voice and her marvelous self-deprecating sense of humor. We chatted at an after concert party (where she put a "Canadian curse" on me ;-) and I found her to be just as charming off stage as she is on.

I saw Lynn again just the other night (with the exceptional Keith Glass accompanying), and I have to say her songs and her voice just keep getting better. I cannot understand why she's not one of the biggest selling singer-songwriters today. If you can, do try to catch Lynn in person, but if you can't this album (and her other albums) are the next best thing. You'll be converted.
