Product Description

"The Unloved" taps into the harsh realities that thousands of children face each and every day. Lucy (Molly Windsor) is 11 years-old when she is placed into care in Nottinghamshire s Crop Row children s home after suffering regular physical abuse at the hands of her violent father (Robert Carlisle). In the home she is forced to share a room with 16 year-old Lauren (Lauren Socha) who after initial hostilities takes Lucy under her wing. 5.0 out of 5 stars A great fiilm 30 Nov 2010
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a great film and the directoral debut of the highly talented actress, Samantha Morton. Drawing on her own experience, she follows the progress of a little girl through a series of encounters in a care home - some heartwarming, some disturbing. The story is told with great sympathy and understanding, the characters are unvarnished and true to life, the plot is raw and hard-hitting and the direction faultless. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pass the tissues! 30 May 2010
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Extremely sad film so prepared to be depressed but excellently acted, and sadly how life can be sometimes. I wanted to take the little girl home from the start and take her out of that awful enviroment. I tend to judge a film as good on the emotions it can make you feel whether angry, sad or shocked and this film is pretty heartbreaking.Excellently done, my only advise would be is have something that will make you roar with laughter to follow as a pick me up!

Saw this on TV and wanted to watch it again. Very moving. How a child's point of view is constantly ignored by us adults. Thanks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Utterly superb! 4 Sep 2012
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is one of the most superb movies I have ever seen. Molly Windsor plays her character of Lucy so honestly, she just tore my heart out and had it for dinner. To think that for many kids out there, the content of this film is daily reality, makes one deeply sad. A gem of a film, truly truly moving. It's one of those films you just can't ever forget.

4.0 out of 5 stars Was desperate for this to be better. 31 May 2011
Format:DVD
The acting in this film is unbelievable but to be honest in parts there didn't appear to be a lot happening. It sort of reminded me of Dead Man's Shoes in parts because there was a lot of walking around and a lot of the camera looking into the child's face. It did make me feel utterly depressed and wanting to volunteer in a kid's home. In my opinion it's worth watching because of the realism and the superb acting but I don't think I would want to watch it again.
