If you want to enhance your communication with your dog and get more feedback and understanding in your relationship, this book leads you through assessment of any problems, and shows as well as any book can, what to do and how.
Sarah's work with horses, dogs, cats and other animals and birds is wonderful, and connects the physical and the emotional in a way that many other descriptions of canine behaviour and training regimes do not. My take on it is that your dog finds that you can make him feel comfortable in his body, and thus trust is built, and he can learn to react more calmly.
This book should be read through before you turn to your dog, and then assessment is the first step. It is clear and well illustrated and a thousand miles away from a training manual. Like healing; this is 'hands on', like physiotherapy; it rectifies the damage to the physical caused by wear and tear or injury; and as dog lovers want; it focuses the touching we love giving to our dogs into something useful and therapeutic.
If you are looking for a calm, considerate interaction with your dog that connects mind, body and spirit (yours and his), this is for you.
If you simply want an obedient dog who is terrified of you, so toes the line, go elsewhere!
